a beta is a playable version of the future update thats gonna be the next stable version once it is done, meaning beta has the newest content, but beta also is more likely to have bugs and crash... cause its not a stable version
so one question its possible to play 1.2.0 now and continue the gameplay on the stable 1.2.0 when it will be out without any more problems?
I also note in the Beta selection window the selection tab holds a whole host of beta options. Which is the most new test of all those?
is it the one right at the bottom of the drop-down list. 1.2.0 Beta
All betas, in all games are opt in only. This means you must manually decide to download it. Since it is a "work in progress" normally you can expect issues/problems. If you opt into 1.2 beta it will automatically be updated to the most current beta version.
The stable or release version is what you are playing now, the 1.6 branch.
That being typed, I have only played the beta for the past 2 years or so. I prefer to have the most current changes/updates, never really had any game breaking issues but I do not use mods or fiddle with my files.
Helpful cheers mate!
Very helpful thanks, I was planning on jumping in once the 1.2 patch got out of beta but it's been months now and it's still being worked on. What's the state of the current beta patch, is it mostly bug free and playable?
I have not had any crashes that I recall. I am on Win 10 still with a old 1080Ti GPU.
For me the ability to target individual formations and fief-less factions dying off is worth any annoyances with the beta.
