War Sails should be released for free - Taleworlds is to blame.
Mods carry games, everybody knows that, just look at Skyrim, while for Bannerlord the devs themselves were absolutely lazy, barely adding anything to the game, which leaves the work for modders.

Look, Warband had its flaws, sure—but mods made it legendary. People literally bought Warband to never touch vanilla and instead jump straight into total conversions, roleplay servers, historical overhauls—you name it. Modding was the game.

Now look at Bannerlord:
A custom engine with zero documentation.
Hardcoded systems that block creative freedom.
Mods crashing after every patch.
3D artists making flashy trailers, while REAL CODING talent is nowhere to be found because they were driven off by constant instability.

Trying to install mods in this game feels like trying to disarm a bomb. You pray everything works after loading Harmony, ButterLib, UIExtenderEx, ModFix, ScriptExtender, and then somehow still end up at a loading screen loop.

This community is on life support, and now War Sails?

You owe us big time Taleworlds, this DLC should be released for free as an apology for the community.

Just to clarify what your asking. You feel entitled to a free DLC in addition to the other free DLC content you are already getting. All because you personally don't enjoy the Mount & Blade franchise, including Warband and only play them for the mods?

Let me know how that goes.

I enjoy MB Warband, and what kept that game alive was modding, something bannerlord never picked up on due to many bad decisions by Taleworlds, instead of learning from Warband and also the thousands of mods that have been made for the game they delivered us a blank slate for Bannerlord with a high price tag, and of course, made it worse and harder to mod, therefore, not an upgrade but rather a downgrade.

We as a community deserve War Sails as an apology for their mistakes.
Farming for Jesters? Going to have to try harder for my Jester....... :steamfacepalm:

https://www.nexusmods.com/games/mbwarband/mods
1,296 mods.
https://www.nexusmods.com/games/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods
5,589 mods.

If there are any roadblocks for modders, they should of course be removed. Mods aren't required to enjoy this game or Warband for most people arguably. They do keep the game fresh from repetition and or just tailoring experiences.

That being said, seems to be thriving just fine.

Are you serious?
They have decided to release an entire DLC for free, by cancelling it and put it in the Base Game for free.

But, you are probably hired by Paradox, to write such Things.
The only Developer, who owes their Community a free DLC, is PDS Black.

I would suggest them double the price. I don't mind. Then you would really have something to complain about -)

Of course, now with whatever the price end up, you would blame me for it I guess. ;p

If you're having trouble finding the $$$ for DLCs, that's understandable, tough times out there ... but a development studio needs an income stream, they cannot give everything away just because they've made poor decisions in the past.

It's very easy to attack a studio for not so wise decisions but you need live in the real world.

We will already be getting FREE content from that dlc that didn't pan out. If that dlc had worked out as they planned, we would have gotten a dlc to the game much sooner. The only poor decision I see really is they should have been open about that as soon as it became clear. That way we would known they working on the game.

I agree with OP. Although I'd rather have a deep well made game rather then a free DLC.
As for who is to blame,I don't blame a Company to try to suck more money out of people,I blame the bloody fanbois who enable said company to get away with it, every-single- time.

How does that work, how does people disagreeing with your take on the game translate to enabling the company to get away with this vague something.
