Any benefits to being a criminal?
I've had a few quests pop up now where I can do the criminal thing for extra gold but getting a criminal rating, or choose to do the not criminal thing. Is there any benefit to being a criminal?

Criminal quests usually offer very easy gold but the cost is criminal rating + losing opinion with some merchants. Im not entierly sure what the criminal rating represents, I think when criminal rating goes above some number the faction becomes hostile, and it decays over time.

Also, taking quests from criminals can actually reduce your Security rating because requests from criminals give a plus modifier to your town's security. You lose this if you do the quest.

But it's only an issue if it's your town.

It seems like there's only negatives to being a criminal. Not a very optimal path.

Maybe it would be better if there were other criminal things to do like make a hideout or befriend bandits. Being a criminal in any MnB game has never been beneficial in any way.

That would be cool. If there was a thieves guild or a dark brotherhood type guild you could join. Maybe you could build your own bandit hideout with upgrades and be able to install a "governor" and recruit bandits to your party.

That's what I was thinking. Build your own hideout, build your criminal reputation and attract the criminal types. Send out raiding parties, take over the gangs in cities to gain influence there.
This would take some resources to do. Raw material to build your hideout, money obviously and you could still use influence to do things.
If you go this route though kingdoms will hate you and you wouldn't be able to recruit normal troops, only bandit types.
I think it would be cool way to play the game other than conquering the map every time.
It would also work well with the new devastate feature.

I highly doubt they will go into this depth with the criminal system. I think the gangs is the best we will get.

Is the criminal side of the game considered fully implemented now? I’ve been operating under the assumption that this was one set of features still in the works, but come to think of it “banditry” or “criminality” is nowhere listed on their “roadmap” from last May.

I just don’t know what to expect for Bannerlord any more.

It's like they have just got bits of everything in and none of them will be "complete". Like a jack of all master of none sort of game. I would much preferred fewer fleshed out features than lots of half assed shallow features.
Does anybody use crafting other than making javelins?
Does anybody befriend the gangs and become a criminal?
Has anyone ever played long enough to fully benefit from the dynasty system?

I love the game but yeah, no idea where they are going with it.
