War Sails Q&A #1
Hello everyone!

Following the announcement of our War Sails expansion, we were met with a wave of questions! We’ve already answered a few here and will continue to share more over time. Got something you’re curious about? Drop your questions in this thread—we’ll be picking some for the next Q&A!


General

Was the trailer made with Nvidia Omniverse, a 3rd party tool (which one), or an in-house solution? In the trailer, it says in engine footage, but isn't this footage created from Nvidia Omniverse?
  • The War Sails trailer was recorded entirely in the Bannerlord engine, without any external software like Nvidia Omniverse. Our team fine-tuned each clip using our scene editor by adjusting sun angles, light settings, fog, and sky brightness. These were artistic tweaks and aren’t engine-wide changes. While the game can already look similar under optimal conditions, its natural day/night transitions and camera angles blend these settings, often resulting in a less tailored look. That being said, we are exploring ways to bring similar visuals seen in the trailer into in-game naval battles. The final experience may differ as we continue to refine these tweaks. Additionally, we’ve adjusted existing atmosphere effects in the editor (such as bloom and grain), and custom animations were recorded for the sole purpose of the trailer.
Is it possible to get a Mac port?
  • At this time, we have no plans to release a Mac version of Bannerlord or its expansions.
When will we have more news?
  • We’ll share more details about War Sails and its features in the near future. Keep an eye on our official channels!
Will the PlayStation version include a separate platinum trophy or just 100% achievement trophies?
  • There will be no DLC-specific achievements.
Will there be an update for PS4 (not referring to the War Sails expansion)?​
Will we get a v1.3 Beta before the DLC?
  • Not yet determined.
Are we going to have these grappling hooks from the trailer inside the base game too - in addition to the stealth gameplay, for climbing and such?
  • We have no plans for that now.
Can we get screenshots of the new map?
  • We’ll share more about the new map soon. Stay tuned!
Are you open to exploring adding naval custom battles in the future?
  • We don’t have plans for naval custom battles.
Will fire arrows be in the base game as well?
  • Not yet determined.
Burning death animations were removed from the game long ago - will we see them back now with fire arrows?
  • No. Burning death animations represent an age rating concern, so they won’t be returning.
Will the v1.3 Patch have any sort of ability to tell vassals of your kingdom which fiefs to specifically defend/attack?
  • No.
Could you share more information about the canceled project?​
  • We explored a more narrative-focused DLC, but ultimately decided it wasn’t meeting the quality and experience we aim for. Rather than releasing something we weren’t satisfied with, we canceled its launch. We’re, however, repurposing the new mechanics into the base game - like the upcoming stealth system. We’ll be sharing more about the new mechanics soon.
Are we gonna be able to rename the ships?
  • Yes! You’ll be able to rename your ships.
Will we be able to put prisoners to oars, increasing our map naval speed instead of decreasing it?
  • There won’t be a specific mechanic for forcing prisoners to row, but one perk will allow prisoners to count toward your ships’ minimum crew requirements.
Will there be sea shanties?
  • We don’t currently have any plans for that.
Will any naval-specific content like the Nords faction, Nords armours & weapons, Nord-culture maps, or maps with naval ship combat be added to the MP base game?
  • Our current focus is on the single-player Naval DLC experience and the base game features discussed in the announcement. We’re not yet in a position to discuss what follows next.
Modding

Will we be able to use War Sails DLC assets in the base game?
  • No. The exact DLC Modding Guidelines will be shared around the expansion release.
Will module_sounds.xml mods continue working normally after FMod Banks?
  • Yes, the existing module_sounds.xml mods will still function. We aren’t planning any changes to the previous system, but you should be able to keep using those mods without disruption.
Any news about the replay editor?
  • We don’t have an update on the replay editor. It hasn’t been a priority, given our focus on the expansion and the upcoming base game update. We’ll share news if the situation evolves.

How many clowns do you have? Free mods already have naval battles.

What happens if you get captured at sea and taken to a hostile island? How do you escape from such a situation?

Will banner bearers be on the ships?

How many units can a ship have? Is it one party per ship?

Can you ram ships in half?

- Will the release of War Sails trigger reworks and overhauls of the base game factions in any way, most notably Sturgia? Will the two be made more dinstinct (sturgia / nords)?

- Please communicate the pricing already, the DLC is set to release in just 2 months.

- What are the plans with regards to Bannerlord's dev cycle following the release of War Sails? Will you go back to devving the base game? Will you finish non implemented but promised features from E.A? Will those be added to the base game for free or will you release them via further paid DLC? Do you have ETAS on anything of the above?

- Are there further minor paid DLC plans such as Warsails to be released after this one in the future?

- Will you be crediting and/or compensating modders whose work you've lifted as part of the Warsails DLC and relative to the free base game update (fourberie for instance?)

- Do you think it reflects well on your company when you appropriate modders' unpaid work and fail to mention crediting or compensating them in the DLC release posts?

The most worthless QA I've ever seen
I want to know more about update 1.3 When is it, what else besides stealth will be added? If its only stealth being added that is gonna be a very disappointing update.

Update more this game and add more stuff to it diplomacy needs new stuff also would be great to see more factions new units and would be great like to have tech tree like to get improvement stuff
