modding - please help
I would love for someone to help me out with modding on here since no one in Nexus Mods discord or MNB Discord seems willing to help.

I am running nexus mod manager (vortex) and before that I was using just steam workshop. Either way I have tried a series of mods both small in quanitity and large and the game never opens after the launch screen. Any help would be appreciated. I am willing to share screen over discord and work on voice.

I wouldn't use either of those. Your best bet for installing Bannerlord mods is to do you yourself.

Manually download mods from a site like the Nexus and put those mods into your Modules folder yourself. Activate the mod on Bannerlord's launcher and see if it works.

Vortex doesn't seem very reliable (for this game at least). And the Steam Workshop only keeps one mod version, so if it's not compatible with your game, or it's removed, you're SOL. There's a way around it, but I'd say just download the mod from the Nexus unless the workshop is the only way to get it.

Usually with mods you'll get some kind of crash once the game opens, but if it never gets that far, it may be something else going on. I'd suggest starting from scratch. There's a topic in the TS section about how to do a full clean reinstallation. Do that first.

Then follow the steps in the link.

I mean I can't even delete the old game files i dont even know why. At this point im trying to totally delete everything so I can get a clean install but it's like there is something preventing me from doing so. Do you mind talking about this over discord with me?

If you have onedrive active, disable it.
You may need to unblock the mod files. Easiest way to do it is through a command.
Also I just want to add that a lot of mods still work even if their versions don't line up with the current build of the game version.

Do you know the command line to enter in powershell or cmd?

Yeah, taken from nexus:

This works for me:
* Shift+right click on main game folder
* Open Powershell windows here
* Paste this and press enter:

dir -Recurse | Unblock-File

Onedrive was never signed into and isn't even running as a background process on my pc

Is it your computer? Are you admin?

Yes its my computer yes im admin but it's windows 11 and I've had nothing but headaches and issues since I went to windows 11
Maybe you need to reinstall to a new non-admin folder. No idea how when you can't seem to remove it in the first place. I'm also on windows 11 and haven't had these issues.

Yeah I'm one of those weird cases where something is wrong with my windows 11 and even after several (literally) clean installs its constantly an issue with permissions and like something is off I just don't understand it but it seems to lead to a myriad of small or unrelated issues. I need someone VERY smart to help me.

I am just not overly great with knowing how to move files here there and everywhere and all these different backdoors and troubleshooting steps for something as simple as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a game
