If we think about why they haven't talked about the roadmap they've drawn, they think they've been wrong stance on this issue in the past. For a unique and complex concept like M&B, saying "we plan or try to do this" is very risky and for this reason they've wasted so much time and credit in the past, especially in the EA phase.
My opinion is that TW is now aiming for definitive results instead of trying things.
Well, out of trying things come concepts and mechanics that can get added in other ways. Such as what they will be adding from the dlc that didn't make it.
I'm no strong believer in roadmaps because devs can easily paint themselves into a corner doing that. They say they want to do something, doesn't manage to do it, and then get crap just the same. Shoulders up, hunker down and work until you have something to announce is better approach imho.
If you look at the gaming industry as whole, there is A LOT Of games that ended up never make it, or went through several iterations and ended up become something completely different than what it started out as.
I'm talking about public roadmaps. Not inhouse ones though.
Take a game such as Bellwright in early access atm. People are crying "give us roadmap"... devs.. "NO", and keep give out banger after banger of updates.
How is Bellwright? I've been wanting to check it out. Does it have native controller support?
They added controller support, but its more of an addon than native. I have no problem play with keyboard and mouse. Combat is directional as with Bannerlord.
It's a story driven sandbox game. Goal is to recruit people to your cause and help liberate the lowlands from the oppression of the local lord (Story so far), all the while trying to find out what did happen to your father.
At core its a city builder, you fight bandits and brigands (the troops of the local lord). It's sort of have tower defense mechanics as your ill have regular raids on your village. Raids will increase in strength as your grow in size. Recruiting more people cost renown, and the cost keep go up the more people you recruit. You need to do research, harvest resources etc, build weapons, armors, food to keep your dudes feed and armed. But rather than you do all the crafting, collecting resources, you have your people do that for you. How effective they are depends on how effective you are at manage them though.
There is research roadblocks where you have to start liberate towns (villages), to be able to recruit people with profession to unlock it. Once you start liberate towns they will start have brigands reclamation parties incoming to take them back. These will be harder to fight than the initial bandit riff raff.
It's sounds pretty awesome in all honesty. I'll definitely check it out soon. Thanks for the info.
The spring update is currently in beta testing. Devs are active on their discord and interacting with the community.
The future for BL is .. DLC (war sales) , DLC (India?), DLC (China/Japanese?), DLC, DLC (my credit card is on FIRE!), DLC, DLC
