New to Mount & Blade, should I start with this or Warband?
Warband is tempting because it's like a third of the price of Bannerlord right now, but what do you guys think?

I'm new to Mount and Blade, and relatively new to sandbox RPGs like it.

You don't need to have played Warband to play Bannerlord. In fact, I believe the events in Bannerlord take place before the events in Warband.

So you could jump right in with Bannerlord if you want to.

I would warn you, however, that if you play Bannerlord without having played Warband, you won't be able to come here and whine about Bannerlord not having feasts or marshalls or those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ poems or maintenance free wokshops or any of the other Warband stuff that the Warband fanbois miss no much.

As for me, I don't miss those things at all.

I would advise you to not waste time with Warband, Bannerlord is far superior in many aspects.
Some minor pieces of contents Warband had are not present in Bannerlord, but the experience of Bannerlord is far more superior in my opinion ^^

Play warband. Bannerlord is boring.

Play Warband instead.

There is enough youtube videos of both games. Quite sure you can watch a few and make up your own mind.

Try this one

From what I've seen posted:

Vanilla Bannerlord > Vanilla Warband

If you're getting into modding - specifically total conversions/major overhauls - Warband may be a better bet. TC's for Bannerlord are still in development at various stages, although you would have to check with the specific mods for their status.

I like Warband better but Bannerlord might be the more accessible and enjoyable option to a new player

Game mechanics are slightly different, for character development. I'd recommend both.

both are very good and both are worth its price...

the only way warband is better than bannerlrod is if you use total conversion mods, if you dont use those mods bannerlrod is the better game in almost every aspect (except of some missing minor features like feasts for example)

haven't played Warband so I really couldn't recommend it over Bannerlord... but given how cheap Warband is, might be a good idea to give it a try and see how they compare to one another.
