Looking for settlement mod suggestions
I want a mod which basically lets me start with (or at least build my own eventually) my own settlement. I've always disliked that you had to join a faction to make money or receive a fief then stab your old allies in the back and go to war with them. I'd like to build up my own town/small nation first. I feel it would make that progression funner, if you know a mod for that.
TIA

Player Settlement mod.

I'd also recommend Calradia Expanded. It adds more fiefs, but it also expands territory where you can travel and build.

Thanks ill give them a try. I can't find calradia expanded though. The only thing that pops up is a bulgarian translation for it, but not it itself.

Nexus is easy. Download the mod, open the zip file, drop the mod folder into your Modules folder, activate the mod on the launcher.

The Workshop is fine, but it only keeps one mod version. If the game updates, it can cause instability. If your mod on the workshop updates, it may not work with your game. If the mod is removed, you're SoL.

I would also recommend setting your game to a specific version and turning off auto updates. This will prevent game updates that might cause mod issues.

Calradia Expanded is a good mod but it crashes on certain settlements, which means you can't siege some settlements or defend it.

For some strange reason, the Player Settlement mod fixes it. I have no idea why.

Seriously? I'll have to give them a look once I go back to Calradia Expanded. Been addicted to Old Realms.

Player settlements mod sounds like exactly what you're looking for, it is available on the workshop. You can build and name towns, villages and castles and there's quite a few decent empty areas where you can build your own kingdom. The placement can be a bit difficult but it's certainly made me come back to the game for another playthrough lol

The previous 2-3 games I played I never joined a faction, just merc work. Captured a rebelling city, founded my nation and went on to conquer calradia.

You don't need to be a vassal to get fiefs, it's just the quickest way.
