Essential Workshop Mods
I read many reviews before buying with a good chunk saying the game is good, but that there are a few "weak points" to it. What essential workshop mods would y'all suggest before I start or should I just go vanilla first play through?

Mods are a personal choice, so I suggest playing a bit in vanilla so you can discover what you would like to change.

But if you want to jump straight into mods, there are a few here who can point you in the right direction. I'm sure Action Man has a few suggestions, he's one of the more helpful mod users on this board. :)

I'm mostly looking for quality of life ones and ones that help the endgame which I've seen many describe as not that good.
None. There are zero essential quality of life mods for this game. You should play the vanilla game for awhile before getting into mods. You may find that what youve heard is complete BS and the game doesnt need mods at all.

Ask different people and you will get different answers. It's always best to play the game a bit yourself. If there are things you don't like, look for mods to address them.

Sometimes you have people come around and ask about help for game issues, not realize the issues they have is related to a mod and not the base game, as they never played the vanilla game before in the first place. The danger of just slot in mods without know the game mechanics of the core game. I don't mind people use mods on their games, their box of rabbits after all. Just learn how the box work without those critters to start with -)

For some running a brothel with big bosomed bar wenches is the most essential mod ever. For others its armor piece make them look like some Roman Legionnaire. The only thing essential is peoples own personal preference.
Diplomacy, RTS Camera (Along with prerequisites Harmony, ButterLib, UIExtenderEX and Mod configuration menu) are some I can't imagine playing the game without.

The rest of my mods I just picked up from stuff I personally wanted to change. Most well-rated and popular mods will seamlesly enable on existing save-games without issue.
(Improved Garrisons, Bodyguards, DynaCulture, MoreArenas, RoyalPrivilegeExtended)

Be sure to get the Enable Achievement mod if you plan to play with mods and you don't want achievements disabled.
