Probably because smithing stamina is the only real limiter and mass production of crafted weapons. If you can buy the ore, it makes crafting even more busted OP.

Almost as OP as battle loot, eh?

Battle loot is way overtuned for the (vanilla) difficulty it offers, but it at least requires you to do something.

If the player chooses to load up with the most powerful units to make the game even easier, that's up to them.

Yep. F1 > F3 > Go pee > Collect loot.

But just as there is room for Stilton and Brie on the cutting board, so there is room for smithing and exploiting battle loot in this game.

To even get to that, it still requires the player to do something. Unless a force of Tier 1 Recruits can match and defeat higher tier soldiers?

Vanilla battle is too easy, especially when the player loads up with a bunch of Fian Champs and Khan's Guards. To get those units, the player still has to recruit the lower level options and train them up. Units that require horses means you have to get that from somewhere too.

That is totally subjective. I find battles boring, You can win them without doing anything. Like I said -- F1 > F3 > Go pee.
