I do understand and Bannerlord will have full controller support. It has partial support right now, but to be sure that full controller support will be available as soon as possible - It has to be for the console port. :)
I played a heck of a lot of my total uncountable hours of Warband "on the road." Not once did I use a controller and I managed to still whack dudes upside the head very often using a variety of wrist-breaking arrangements. Frankly... I don't see how I could ever use a controller for either product, but each to their own.
Now, if you legitimately can't use a mouse and keyboard, I understand. Though not similarly impaired, I'm a big supporter of gaming for everyone and that specifically means those who have issues or are otherwise impaired. Developers and manufacturers should do as much as they can to provide this market segment with accessible options. These days, we're seeing more of that being done and it continues to grow, just at a slower pace. (Keybinds, color-blind options, Microsoft and others offering special hardware, game streamer charity drives, etc.)
But, regardless - The game is going to get a console port eventually and, IMO, that's going to be a high priority right after PC formal launch. That should happen Q4 of this year (their estimate) or at the latest by Q1 2022 (Just a bit of leeway IMO). So, you should see some kind of full controller support getting pushed pretty hard for PC as they ramp up for console release. (It "should" get pushed early in development of the console port - They gotta have it working during port development. :))
The game has had Xinput controller support quite a few patches ago and i have been playing it with an xbone controller for the last 200h of gameplay.
Works perfectly fine, although ofc everything takes a little longer to do then compared to mouse and keyboard.
I work as a system engineer all day, the last thing i want to do when i'm home is sit at a desk and use the keyboard again.
So sounds like OP is quite skilled on controller, as the VAST majority of gamers are... But this is PC, and mouse and keyboard have advantages.. and those of us who have been using them since 1880 like to keep using them. (sometimes.... system engineers excluded lol)
Regardless, as people have said Controller support IS available. And it will be on consoles, for sure...
I have so much issue with abxy, the PS ones I have down perfectly from a lifetime of playing PS1 and PS2, but I also have a switch, and use my ps3 controller on my computer for any action games or emulation, fewother things. PC reads PS3 controllers as an xbox controller. AB and XY are opposite on the xbox to the switch, and all Nintendo consoles. I tried playing some game on emulator where it was one of those "press x during this mini-cutscene to avoid being chopped in half" sort of things and I failed 3 times because I am so much more used to my switch layout.
I took the longest time before I started using a controller for games. Having my arm in a sling for a while made me fall in love with one, as it made it possible to play games. Several games I'm told are terrible with a controller and are so much better with keyboard and mouse... well, aren't, are actually a far better experience with controller, after all; using the keyboard and mouse only complicates things.
That said, WITH THIS GAME, mouse and keyboard really are better than the controller; more responsive, more accurate aim for bows and arrows, etc.
But if you're having physical issues using a keyboard and mouse... yeah, it would be nice if the controller worked better.
thanks Morkonan for actually reading my post. as i said I CAN'T use a keyboard, i am disabled. i can use a controller all day long without issue.
hand cart, horse cart, wagon, train, car, semi-truck, air cargo, space shuttle
carving, writing, typing, computer aided typing, voice to text
the controller is the FIRST device created for gaming, ALL prior hardware is improvisation of existing technology to accomplish the goal. just as the musket was the first true firearm.
no real engineering and/or marketing of said engineering has happened around the computer gaming hardware interface.
controller, generic term, numerous iterations and improvements; it has its problems just like the musket.
VR is fundamentally a new technology. YET i don't hear any .... i'm not buying VR until full keyboard and mouse support. VR is still video games isn't it?
thanks to all who take the time to read this.
hi zef sent friend invite to discuss how you have controller setup. you can always de-friend etc. after exchange. thanks
Please don't. There are enough ♥♥♥♥♥♥ console ports with horrible uis designed for controllers. I don't want to see more of those.
The keyboard I will agree with, but not the mouse. I'm sorry you are disabled. I have a disability as well,
