a long glaive + first "basic" staff is a good/best combination. you have to change the sliders (long/short) till you are content.
my actual glaive is long glaive + last/highest staff in smithing
Also great for making money, for whatever that is worth. Uses only two pieces of regular steel, and sells for 40K.
Id love to know what the "rhompaia" specs are. I know the blade head.. but everything else is up for grabs, I can never match it to the same speed/reach/damage/handling as a found/purchased Rhompaia
Does anyone know which OTHER parts are used, besides the head?
Is it still in the game? I got one in my 2nd or 3rd game (about a year ago) and haven't seen it since. I was lucky picking it up when I was only tier 2. With my inexperience it seemed like it was practically a God weapon at that point. Had I known I would never see it again, I might have played longer into that game. I seriously doubt that it is as good as I remember it, though I think it was really fast. Do you have the stats?
well someone asked when 1.6.0 went live "hey where can I find a glaive, and rhomp". We all tried answering, We found Glaive in Makeb, and I forgot where we (I lol) found Rhomp. I guess I could search old threads. But I did eventually find it.
Sadly, since the hot patch last week. I've been looking every town possible. (Still 1.6.0) and haven't seen the Rhomp. So either I'm very unlucky.. or It was removed.
I believe removed.. But I'm just guessing.
Why? well, I also been looking for noble bows. It's year 5 in my campaign, I am clan tier 5. and only saw 1 noble bow in whole game.. and that was when I was clan tier 3... it never replenished.
I GUARANTEE before the hot patch, I was finding 20-50 noble bows per game (for sale). and now 1? in 5 years?
Seems like a stealth nerf IMO
Edit:
RhomPhalia
Weight 1.2
Tier 6
Swing Speed 76
Cut damage 141
Reach 203
Handling 66
One I made with some top end parts is.
1.8
6
73
148
202
64
And it feels way worse. I don't know if its the handling, the swing speed? the weight? I dunno. but it barely feels like same weapon
I'm really surprised at those stats. The speed is less than a Menavlion (80?) and I believe the handling is too. I think it was the cut damage that had me so impressed with it back then. Now, I prefer swing speed over damage and the Menavlion has the best swing speed of all the swinging polearms that I've seen, plus decent damage and good length. Before they adjusted the price from 3000 dinars to 60,000 dinars (no exaggeration) it was the best bang for the buck weapon in the game. Gave one to every companion and their polearm skills seemed to increase faster with the Menavlion than with what they have now, But that could be my crappy memory.
I have never used that weapon, but DO see it currently in my 1.6.0 for sale. I for some reason thought it was Swing/pierce damage. and in my experience dual damage type weapons tend to be inferior. Perhaps I should buy one of these stinkers and give her a whirl.
Hopefully it is comparable to my beloved Rhomp
:)
I've gotten to the point where it's more like counting coup. Don't really care if I take him out, "I got the sucker".
Pretty sure I've seen one in 1.6.1 - though I can say with confidence I've personally only ever seen them in Battanian cities, but YMMV.
It isn't off track imo.
He wants to know how to make (smith... keep finding the best swing damage heads) a good 2 hander, or 2 hander polearm.
He says he can't find the glaives, or similar.. and can't create similar.
Makeb is where you can find glaive. I think also Battania (dont quote me on that).
and as for "cant make better". Yeah, thats why I wanna know what Recipe is for Rhompaia, so I can TRY to make a better one.
I think OP is right, the ones you buy (top tier) are always gonna be better than created. I'm not sure, but it sure feels that way. My 2 handed polearm I listed above stats for, was with 220 smithing skill, and Rhomp head, and 3 tier 5 parts....
Still it is quite inferior to the Rhomp..
Edit: just saw Long Glaive in Chaikand. So it seems Makeb, and Chaikand have highest chance to get them.. Also where I saw them last campaign too..
a buy-weapon is not better then a craft-weapon.
and this romphalia is a medium weapon. a long glaive have the same stats but ca 180 dmg.
What's the point to be a legendary Smith then? Just making money?
1) with all the bonus perks like skill 250 or 200 or 275 u can have maybe 5% or 7% better weapons, thats all... so my first post, u dont need smithing!
2) u can make a weapon u cant buy and hit your personel playstyle, like my first post long glaive + basic/standard wooden staff. (use sliders till you are happy)
edit:
3) yes, money is good
4) u get 2 additional attribute-points and can reach higher max-lvl with your char
