Prevent troop donation after siege
I'm in an army of just my family member and I, I try to have as many high tier troops as possible between the two of us. I go and siege a castle and once we have it he auto-donates 40 his best troops. Once they're donated I can't get them back.

Is there a way to prevent this?

If you a king or just a regular clan, you can just move the troops back. Dunno if you can when you a vassal in a kingdom.

never give your other partys/companion good units !

1) they will all die cawse of low medic skill or
2) they will spend most of this elite troops, to the first fief possible

fun fact: other clans/lords in your own kingdom NEVER spend any unit to a fief. if they conquer new fiefs in a war, the fief will always have ZERO garrison troops.

Yes, many people aren't aware of this mechanic. I found out after realizing where all my fian champions went after every siege. Prior to entering into a siege battle, you need to take all the troops from your family members and put them into your party. After the siege is over give them back their troops and don't go back into the castle (or else they will donate).

oh yea, I noticed that after I did the siege and was missing like 40 men. I went back to the castle to see if I could get them back, but as soon as I get there I see the little pop-up above the castle telling me my guy donated another 5 soldiers.

So you can't go to the castle at all after you capture it. At least, not until it's given to a lord or something.

Lucky for me I'm a save-scummer so I have a save right before I took this castle.

Part of being a good noble is helping to defend the lands your people died to conquer, you should be proud of your clanmate :)

well that's not really the problem, i myself no worries giving my troop as reserve for other but if i already tidy them up like all 50 for each type and suddenly become untidy like unit a become 43, unit b become 35 and so on it frustrating...

i hope dev/or modder have the solution soon...

I prefer to think of it as 'Power Word: Reload'.

There was a mod that solved this, I don't know if it is current. I think it was called Party Enhancements or something like that.

Why would you want to prevent it? Newly captured settlements need a strong garrison. Besides, having a large number of lower teir troops is better than having a small number of high teir troops.

To your first point, no they don't if you have my strategy. It depends on how you play.

to your second point, that's kind of a straw-man isn't it? i never said it was better to have a small number of high tier troops. If i have 250 troops in my party either way, it's better if they are high tier.

Having a large number of high tier troops is much better than having a large number of lower tier troops, and it is easy to have a large numbers of high tier troops, so why wouldn't you?

I always put my best archers and fotsoldiers into towns or castles... its a good way to keep them siege that place instant :)

If you can afford the wages, sure. Go bonkers. I dont bother with high teir troops much myself, not because of the cost, but because of the time it takes to rank them up. I get more accomplished if I just get a ton of recruits, rank them up to T3 and throw them at the enemy, not worrying about how many lose, so long as I win. They are easily and quickly replaced.
