Companions automatically choose perks
I checked and Auto Allocate Clan Member Perks is turned off. However they still choose their own perks and attributes. Is this a bug? Am I missing something?

Version? Mods?

I'm playing with the latest version, 1.1.3. And I'm using no mods whatsoever except for Birth and Death.

Do you mean they are auto-allocated when you first hire them, or do they auto-allocate upon level up? I am able to choose for level-ups, but the only companion I can start from scratch is your brother in the campaign.

It always makes me laugh a little that almost every person using mods says "no mods except for..." I do hope you are able to figure out your trouble though!

The second one, they auto-allocate when they level up.

Thank you! Yeah I get what you mean but I said that because Birth and Death is kinda in the base game I think lol

Birth/death is an option in vanilla version yes....Auto-Allocation of points option is tricky sometimes. If it is turned off before you get your brother then you get to spend all those points how you like.....if it was turned on before you got your brother then you don't and even if you go back and switch afterwards you are still stuck waiting for a long time to see if you can put the points he earns since he takes forever to level up.

Hmm, I've literally just gone and checked, and it's working fine for me, I can choose companions perks, focus points, and attribute points on level ups (just not whatever perks etc they have before I hire them.)

My game is completely vanilla, so my only guess is that perhaps that mod is somehow making it janky. Sorry I can't help more.
if you turned it on prior to turning it off, it takes some times to propagate.

it's a very weird option in that, once it's turned on, it doesn't allocate the skill points. it will wait until a certain increment or update ticks before allocating the points.

unless it's a new bug in 1.1.3, then i'm not too sure.
