Why are caravans so fast??
caravans... slow moving wagons laden with goods... and they are some of the fastest units of the game?

it makes it impossible to catch them if you are infantry. design flaw.

Do you see any wagons? Pack horses, mules.... camels...

Only design flaw is your party composition -)

Think of it like the Old West... you and your gang who can't afford horses will never catch a stagecoach.

Sure, they have loads of heavy goods, and enough animals to make sure you can't catch them.

Makes sense, right?

no, the design flaw is forcing everyone to go cav if they want to catch anything, and screwing over anyone that wants to play infantry. I mean, if i need to spell that out any clearer...

HINT: If you want to catch a caravan and is slow.. Wait outside a city they will exit from. And just run right into them.

There is skills that make your party faster. With enough horses in your inventory it speed up your party speed as well.

i dont use any cav in my run atm and have no problems catching them, the problem is on your side.

If you don't wish to go full cavalry there is a way to catch caravans, and that is to simply corner them.

In Battanian territory east of Seonon and South-East of Marunath there are these two sort of alcoves with villages. You push a caravan there and you can absolutely catch them when they try to turn back and slip past you.

There are plenty of other spots like that all across the map where you can pull this off if you practice and have a little patience.

You have gotta go fast.

Take relevant scouting perks on your scout (or MC), have mounts in your inventory (not mules, sumpters, pack camel or work horses-anything else will do) in proportion to your party size, and ensure your party isnt extremely large(this negatively affects speed even if its all cavalry) .

Caravans are fast so....they....dont....get....robbed. lol just playing. An all infantry party without horses, (not cavalry), to carry men, and relevant scouting perks will not and should not expect to catch a caravan. Its different than being on foot chasing a car. Look up tips about party speed

Some games have rules and challenges to overcome

It makes scene that they would take fort to be really fast cause this world is COVERED in raiders and looters and enemy nobles and mercenaries

but if you take lots of horses and the riding perk you can run at similar speeds

Grab thirty horse archers and you can still go 6.4.
Aven Oct 19, 2022 @ 7:33am
Pro-tip: Riding a horse outside of battle has no effect on your ability to fight as infantry.

It's certainly not a design flaw. Just a skill issue.
