Disorganized state happening after small battles.
Moving 40% slower for 6 hours after a 6 Vs 12 fight seems really odd and especially punishing at either the start of the game or after being beat down. Particularly at game start having that party of 4 bandits that catch you making every party around able to hurts and just feels bad in my opinion.

Does anybody have some counter arguments to why small fights should have such drastic slowdown?

-Edit: I should have mentioned that this is 1.8.0 Beta patch.

Must be a bug.
Yesterday I defeated 19 bandits with 4 of my companions and 10 mounted recruits. Map speed before the fight was 7.5, after the fight, with one prisoner and two extra horses: 3.4
I let go of the prisoner: 6.2
I let go of the two extra horses: 8.0

Weird things are happening in this version 1.7.1 and I'm not so sure I want to try 1.8.0 yet.

Forgot to mention this was on the 1.8.0 patch, with this release you get the full 40% slowness seemingly no matter party size so I would hold off on updating for a bit. I really hope it is an oversight to not have a minimum size for it.

I thought 1.8.0 seemed to be too unstable and bug-ridden for my taste. I don't want to wait another couple months to update my mods for less performance than 1.7.1

Disorganized state really should not affect any battles except for (1) vs large armies, (2) sieges.
It's absurd that every fight against 10 looters causes disorganized state.

I´m actually unsure why the game has any disorganized state at all. If You have e.g. all horses and would like to run from someone or want to catch someone - i don´t know if any organization would be helpful. Disorganized is usually faster - and organized or not, a group is as fast as their slowest member - no matter how many people there are. If it was about organization, they should make it so that after each fight it takes a while till the group can move on - depending on the size.

And who or how many people You fight is irrelevant, as the whole army goes into the battle formation. And after it they collect loot, and reform in marching formation. Perhaps make it so that if You have them in column formation - they wouldn´t need so long, but You would get no loot. But that way this formation has at least one use.

Edit: so it´s a game design decision to be able to catch other parties - or to flee from stronger forces.

It should really depend on party size. Less than 20 and there should be no disorganised state. Then the bigger your party the bigger the disorganised penalty up to a certain cap maybe.

Maybe it should depend on the number of newly wounded troops in player's party?
It makes sense that if you have to collect & carry the wounded, it's gonna take time (but if you leave them, then you're back to your normal speed).
This "feature" really needs a nerf, one way or another.

I mean it´s the only way to catch smaller parties. They fight vs someone, and then they have this state for some time, which enables a bigger party to catch it.

Early game You are probably alone - so You have the fastest party. Just avoid fighting a 4 people bandit party if 6 others are around, even if You could also solo them with a bow and a horse. As soon as You have like 20+ people any bandits will flee from You, because most bandit parties are small at the beginning. And You can have those people directly after starting the game if You want. Don´t fight looters. Do tournaments and bandit hideout. Or get some recruits and do caravan protection or ambush missions, as they give good loot. Horses and the like, valuable prisoners - You just need to buy some food. Looters are worth like 5 gold and carry cheap loot. Not worth it. You have 1k gold at the start - that´s enough to hire a companion and as many people as the party limit, as You will probably have one or two losses if they are recruits.

^You'd rarely ever catch those steppe bandits if they didn't have this in the game. Those dudes are 6.6 to 7 all day every day.. You either have to catch them as they come out of a battle, or suck them in to battle by hitting looters nearby, or find a group that is large enough or holding prisoners to be a slightly slower speed.

There's a perk that lowers the duration of the disorganized state.

Smaller parties are already faster so unless you just happen to start a battle close to an enemy force on the map, you shouldn't have too hard of a time doing hit and runs.
