How to buy Cannons: The Old Realms
I'm playing the modpack, but I can't buy any artillery. I'm a priest of the imperial culture. I've done the engineer's missions, but I still can't buy anything.

All I can do is buying weapons or hiring engineers. In addition to having an option to spend 500 prestige to do something. Could that be it?

Hi. You have to spend 1500 prestige to unlock the cannons

Swear fealty to an elector count, have 50+ engineering skill and upgrade the shop at least two times.

Not sure if it's enough to have a companion with engineering.

U need a 50+ skill in engineering, or a companion with it. Then, spend 1500 prestiege

When you finally do get your cannons, recruit the melee variant of artillery crew. they will group up with you melee in field battles, making it possible to hold fire. ranged variant comes equipped with a short range blunderbuss that mostly servers the purpose to blow your own troops up, and when you hold fire, all your ranged stop shooting. it is possible to make a separate group, but it's very finicky.

Iron Company cannot operate cannons and mortars, but they share the same base troop. you would think Mortars were going to be useful in sieges, but they are really not, they are effectively brain dead, same as the cannons, the targeting is just not working. once in a while they'll work, so it's worth bringing. but don't rely on them doing the job for you. let's just RP and says it's the miscast die being rolled.

your canon crew are the most helpless bunch I've come across in the game, and will fire at everyone and everything, including you, your advancing troops, your house and family.
