Losing workshops
I keep losing workshops and I'm wondering if its because my kingdom goes to war with the kingdom that currently holds the town in which my workshop is located?

I think they were bugged for a few, as originally i wasn't losing them. Now you lose them again if the town isn't part of your Kingdom and you go to war with them, which is the correct mechanic.

get works on the backline, not front line dont get workshops thats using material from castles, castle goes down fast in war. settlement doesnt go down (unless u are not doing anything to help it XD)

The following applies if you are in a faction as a vassal or mercenary or as faction leader.

If the workshop is in a town that is taken over by an enemy faction, you lose the workshop. Permanently. No backsies.

And if the workshop is in a town belonging to another faction, and your faction goes to war with that faction, you also lose the workshop. Also permanent. Also no backsies.

If you are an independent clan and you end up in a war with another faction, the above also applies. And again -- permanent. No backsies.

This ain't Warband where you got your ♥♥♥♥ back after the war ended.

There's a Trade perk Trade 175 Rapid Development that gives you 5000 denars back when you lose a town to an enemy facion.

So workshops are basically a liability and waste of money? Just like real life spouses/partners?

Workshops are always bad investment unless its your own territory far in the back. Caravans are good but always die before investment is returned because A.I doesn't clear hideouts and clear the roads of bandits so they spiral out of control from all the villagers being yeeted daily.
