only important is, to have a lerning rate like 3 or 0,7 . you will get more skillpoints.
with 5 / 5 (attribute / skillpoints) the skill-max is 260
with 7 / 5 the skill max is 289
most player use this both for the 250 and 275 skill.
(i never use trade, i assume you need 8 / 5 for 300+. but im not shure)

XP gain slows down a lot as you approach that hard cap, but it's easy to hit a hard cap for skills that have extremely high XP yield actions. For example engineering goes up extremely fast when you're personally killing defenders with siege weapons. You can literally make something like 20 level ups with a single shot that knocks out 30 men on the wall.

I already told you that the cap is 330 for a skill with 10 attribute and 5 focus points. It will not stop at 240.
At first you will not even notice the reduced XP rate. Later on it really slows down.
You'll need multiple big trades with tens of thousands of profit for every skill point eventually.
