Abandonware?
So summer sale is here and I' considering buying some game, this is one of them on my list but people keep calling it abandonware, would someone explain where this has come from and if you recommend getting this game when it's 50% off?

An Edit here, decided to leave this without replies cause I wanted to get a lot of answers not changed by my input/answers as well as just being busy. I know that abandon ware is when you can't buy the game anymore but a lot of others kept using it so I thought it would be best to use same terms, wrong as they were. Thanks for all of your answers, I'm going to be buying it when I get my next paycheck (Assuming I get it before the sale ends).

its a fully released game, some people don't like the state its in but calling it abandonware is dumb. Its not a live service that has been shut down, its a single player game you can play from start to finish right now and play for many many hours. It does have many issues and balancing problems that were also present in the first M&B as well as some unique to this one, but it is not abandonware. You can buy the game for whats in the game now and have a great time, even if it never gets updated again.

And technically abandonware is when the rights holders have abandoned it and you cannot buy the game legally and therefore have to download it off abandonware sites.. this is clearly not that.

You have threads here where people complain the game get updated and it break their mods.

You have threads here where people complain the devs isn't doing any updates or working on the game... Yet devs started several times they plan to support the game and is currently woking on 1.3.x

You have people complain Bannerlord didn't include EVERYTHING from earlier games in the series. Some even ♥♥♥♥ on them for not include all the popular mods from earlier games in the series.

There is players around here who played the game for 1000's of hours. i'm getting close to 3k myself. People wouldn't do that many hours if the game was bad etc. Is it perfect? No, no game is. Their review score on steam wouldn't been what it is if the game was terrible as well.

Just a very slow pace of development which is completely normal for the company that made this series.

It's an amazing game and the devs are still working on it. No, it is clearly not abandonware.

Currently in my first playthrough and I'm loving it, if you like RTS RPG games and large scale battle simulations this is a must play.

Entire generations of kids released with DLCs, GaaS, updates, Fortnite and ♥♥♥♥, they think a game is dead when there is no new skin released for a month.

Game is not an abandonware. Not dead or anything like that. It's a complete video game. It's still patched, though, but it would be nothing near abandoned or dead or whatever if it wasn't.

God save us from what the industry becomes in the future once this dumb raised generation will be the only customers the industry care about.

I wouldn't call it complete compared to the previous games, diplomacy is non existent, snowballing is still a problem, the map holds no strategic values or give you any reason to ever owning a city.

Mods is the only thing keeping this mess together and i'm still uncertain how many TC mods we will see for this game besides the few we have now, in Warband you have all you ever need.

L'aigle
Clash of Kings
Gekokujo
PoP
Sands of Faith
last Days of The Third Age (my favorite)
Warsword Conquest

just to mention a few.

Don't get me wrong Birth and death is great and so is the new inventory, but it's far from a complete game and what you see now is what you get, they're only bug fixing now.

Have you played the game in the last 4 years? Most of this is flat wrong. And warband has a static economy and missing a handful of fat features.

It got a patch update in June. Sure, it's just bug/crash fixes, but it's nowhere near being "abandonware."

Abandonware doesn't really exist, either - Someone, somewhere, owns it. Though, it can be "abandoned" for further development. There are several notable cases still published on Steam, too.

Well you don't have the ownership mark on steam that show you own the game here.
