What game won't get a bit stale after several hundred hours though? A lot of games these days you be lucky if you get 40-50 hour out of them. I'm heading towards 3k and I know some people around here have more than double that. I would say any game you get several hundred hours out of these days is a game well worth it.
The loud nay sayers on the forum doesn't match the good reviews of the game. But that is quite common for the steam forums.
My statement was irony and not meant to be negative ;)
It's an EA, lost it today after many bugs and lack of basic features
also happens to be a unique sandbox that keeps certain type of player engaged for hundreds of hours and at that point unfortunately or inevitably shows its shortcomings (like shallow systems of which there are many).
Forums are a game+ for this, I sh*tpost here sometimes (50% split between that and helping newbies) to vent frustration all the while keep playing (close to 2000h now) modding and wishing for more active development. But the fact is game is finished and its more feature complete and more fun to play then most recent AAA games imho.
Campaign gameplay : - farm loot sell farm loot sell farm loot sell
- become a vassal
- farm loot sell farm loot sell farm loot sell
- become a king
- declare peace, declare war, declare peace, declare war...
nice experience in 40-50 hours
I've never seen a sandbox game as empty than Mount and Blade Bannerlord
I never become a vassal or aim to become one in my playthroughs. So you are saying you are taking the "easy way" to become a king without put in much of the work? Never got a family to grow your clan? Never worked as a merc? Never did tournaments, broke prisoners out of dungeons? Played around with workshops and caravans? Doing quests, bandit hideouts more of the early day activities?
By your reasoning I could sum up ANY total war game (and similar) as "get big army, fight fight fight, you won"...
Please, list up all the sandbox games you have played that is better than Bannerlord, would like to see your preference... and if you even would compare games that is even similar within the same genre at all. A game such as 7 days to die is a sandbox game as well, but you can't compare it with Bannerlord.
People expected more, more was also promised early on when the development started.
This game feels more like a remaster from Warband and a step down from Viking Conquest in all but graphics/core gameplay.
Mount and Blade 2 has sutch a fantastic battle system and warfare that the developers really could have made something that wasn't good but universally praised if the game had a real end game, goals, etc but that part is sadly missing.
Right now it looks like we will never get what people hoped for but what we got is still, good.
