What are the consequences if you kill him or just let him go?

You get a notch on your Cruel/Mercilful tab.

Thank you; I was planning to make a high honor playthrough that is nice to know!

He also has like the most meaningful lines i´ve ever seen in any game:

Like:
"Wait a moment, i have something really important to say, because this is really dangerous. He´s really no joke. We should prepare this carefully."
Player: "I defeated You as well."
"Ye, right. Let´s go."

What´s also nice is that Your brother starts talking, when You see the sequence with him, as both work simultaneously, and not one after another - and You think how the voice lines could be anywhere connected to what You see on the screen, till You close the window and realize what´s up...

I think it says somewhere the factors that effect your character traits, I forget if its on the wiki or elsewhere, but I do remember seeing a chart of stuff that lowers and raises trait values. Though if I remember trying to use it to get traits it didnt always work, and might be more practical, and even realistic to simply use the console to set your desired character and role playing traits.
