Skills Negative XP keeps increasing
So I've noticed that my One Handed skills got stuck at 130 for quite a while and started tracking the XP I'm getting.
As it turns out, it looks like I need negative XP in order to level up, which in itself is weird, however the weirder part is that the negative amount XP keeps increasing. I.e. i needed -20.000XP when i first looked and now i need -383.000 XP.

Anybody has any idea what's going on?

I'm like 90% sure that it's just a kind of "visual glitch". Part of the vanillas' levelling/XP system overhaul, I think.

Currently running modded save and even tho some certain skills have some silly "-256831.42/280 xp"-values displayed, they will eventually level up about at the expected rate.

It is a bug. It is not a "visual glitch" as far as I know.

It occurred over a year ago. Sometimes you'd get a new wanderer or a sibling would come of age (like your sister), and she'd need -256.............. xp. To hit her next level.

She'd NEVER level, and that negative number would slowly decrease, as if it was using the xp to "get to ZERO".

If you logged out, when she first hit age 18.... then logged back in, the number would fix. And she'd level as normal.

I put in multiple tickets regarding it. With screen shots. I was not aware it is still occurring.

Put in another hour - still no skill level up, but negative XP amount keeps increasing, so you're probably right, its a bug.
It sucks that its on my "main" character not a wanderer. I suppose its a good thing I've only played about 8 hours of this run...time to delete/rinse and repeat.

Hmm? Now I wonder why I'm not having such bad luck with my experiences. Never had.

As far as I can confirm; on all of the characters I've had this the skills progress, xp is awarded seemingly right but displays show whatever they want.. Weird!

Is it possible that you've hit some sort of "skill cap" so that the xp grow is stunted until more attributes or focuses are distributed? Just thinking aloud here. Could be a bit of a soft-lock situation if you can't level up overall.

use cheats to add expience is my only advice here.
are you using any mods that touch this system?seems to be a rare bug.

This would probably work.

Side note: I went through my old screen shots (apparently I deleted most ...dang it). I didn't find the few I took that I sent to devs regarding the "negative xp" for wanderers and siblings (guess I thought it was fixed and deleted them).

But........ I did find a screen shot where it did it for "relations" too. I would rescue some dude, and my relations would decrease -242638749459509 (or whatever the number is. It has to do with math... so it is always the same number).

Anyway, Sorry to hear the bug is back. Sorry it is on MAIN character (that stinks). if cheat doesnt work (and logging in and logging out of game AND STEAM) doesn't fix it... Then yeah, I'd restart.

I wish I could remember EXACTLY how I fixed it before. But iirc, it was mostly CLOSE GAME. CLOSE STEAM. CLOSE IT IN TASK MANAGER. Restart steam, restart game.

EDIT: Below is the correct starting number
"2,147,483,647 or 2147483647 is a Mersenne prime. It is the result of 231−1, and it is one of only four known double Mersenne primes.[1] " <-- wiki

"Why is the number 2,147,483,647 so important?
The number 2,147,483,647 remained the largest known prime until 1867. In computing, this number is the largest value that a signed 32-bit integer field can hold."

I was guessing that is the number you saw

you needing -383000 seems to me to maybe be a Mod issue.
