Tower Shields

do you think its possible they will add proper tower shield it would be good to see them in a shield wall and good when trying to defend a castle/city just a thought whats your opinion

If they're not already in, I doubt they'll be added. Still, I'd like to see them too - in the hands of the Imperials. Would make perfect historical sense.
But this is fantasy so historical sense makes no sense, really.

nothing against tower shields but the troops of the empire are inspired by the byzantine military, not the roman military.

There are already the pretty huge paveses. These almost cover the whole body, so I don't think anything larger would be practical.

Tower shields was not typical used in shield walls though. They where typical used as cover for ranged units. (pavise a good example) Static defense and such. The size and weight for them would work poorly in a shield walls. A shield wall need mobility as well.

depends on if we are talking about ancient romans or later medieval warfare, the roman legions used thair scutums in a phalanx like shieldwall formation, though with a short sword instead of the phalanx typical spear.

but the roman leagions for the most part also were highly trained professional soliders who trained for that style of warfare.

I only want a bigger shield if there´s the ability to go into turtle formation. Just to hear it in game: "Infantry..." "turtle formation!!!" and then it´s not called infantry any more - but turtle formation, so "turtle formation..." "get them !!!" or "advance !!!". And then this formation with some spears pointing out of it in random directions would move somewhere. Yes - i´m all for it.

I mean the important part is actually that You can crouch - and with a big round shield it covers You pretty well. Actually with some guys crouching - some guys standing - it would also be possible to have the turtle formation with round shields...
