some resources though have no use for workshops, like salt and horses
Both cows and pigs supply hides. Cows usually cost twice as much as pigs, but they supply 2 units of hides when you butcher them.
Horses give meat only when you butcher them, no hides, and sheep give a couple of meat and one hide.
I was not aware that a tannery would use furs as raw materials. I just bought one in Varcheg to test this out. I set it to take raw materials from the warehouse and stuffed in some furs, but the tannery is not using them. It's making about 200 to 250 denars a day, but I think it's using cows it gets from Ismilkorg.
Tyal is interesting. It has villages with cows and sheep. A tannery makes money, but a wool weaver does not, even if you bring it wool. I hear wooll weavers are bugged.
Pen Cannoc is also interesting. It is right next door to Llanoc Hen castle, whose two villages both supply pigs. These two villages are trade bound to Pen Cannoc, but the tannery I created there didn't do all that well until I started buying pigs in the villages and butchering them. Then I put the resulting hides in the Pen Cannoc warehouse and ate the meat. The tannery went to 250 a day in a couple of weeks.
Did you know that you get Trade experience if you set your workshops to output to warehouse? Yep, you do. I have long since converted all my workshops to output to warehouse, and my Trade is almost 200 and still growing. I'm trying to see if I can get Trade 300 doing this.
By the way, Fur is a trade item, not used by any workshop.
Or said in another way, how do i best see if its a good place to build a workshop and what type.
Ignore the old ♥♥♥♥, because workshops have changed over time.
(Note: They do take some work now to derive maximum income.)
