That being said, as much as like this title, it leaves a lot more to be desired. The streamlining of game play is great, the improved graphics are fantastic. The game isn't totally cavalry lopsided (although VC also handled that well) but it feels like the world could be so much more alive.
I'd love for there internal struggles within factions. Major rebellions on top of the current minor ones we have. Maybe 2 or 3 other wandering heroes building their own clan at the same time you do. The frame work is there for some really great stuff that's just not there.
My hope is that modders will pick up the slack and maybe inspire the developers to create some truly unique DLC. But at this stage it is what is; a good game that could be great
-There’s a difference between creating a Mona Lisa and adding a mustache to it.
I keep looking back at this but it p***es me off so much and development seems so slow, the music is still recycled from the guild series, which came out 22 years ago and wasn't particularly great at the time.
i don't like any of the vanilla units at all, they are all ugly as hell in there own way and that shouldn't matter at all because the game, at its very heart is about a warband, your warband, your troops how you want them, or at least it should be but you can't even do that and for me that's pretty unforgivable having zero troop customisation in a game like this now, they should have put in the ability to completely customise your troops like the "my little warband" mod and the ability to save designs so your not re-making them every game.
spears don't work, spearwall doesn't work, diplomacy is broken, relations are broken and the whole thing has the depth of a puddle, the entire game world is dead behind the eyes and were 4 years into release.
The time scale is all wrong. The scope is all wrong. The map scale is all wrong. The game would have been a million times better if they had focused on battles of less than 1,000 units, Added more villages and castles, more baronies and fewer countries, made the time scale 365 days to a year. The number of troops you can muster should have been directly tied to how many villages you control. The game should have started you as a minor land holder. Companions should have been interesting and unique characters that would join you based on your accomplishments. They should have given helpful advise or abilities to your cause, such as access to new troop types, or diplomatic bonuses, or similar perks.
it would center around you working the stables and building yourself up through calradian hippodromes as a jockey/stable boy.
maybe you dont get the sarcasm and maybe my post is mean. i dont want to play your idea of mnb i want to play TWs Idea of mnb. I like almost all the features they have made, its just that the the ideas they implemented feel unfinished or obsolete.
barter, kingdom management, inheritance, economy, town upgrades, clan tiers, smithing, sieges and siege equipment, logistics.
those features that TW decided should be in the game all belong in this game, but none of them feel implemented in a way that it all comes together as a full product. they are all disjointed and often completely unnecessary only hindering the actual gameplay which is fighting amazing battles.
mnb allways was about combat, sieges, shouting. it never had incredible diplomacy, nobody played it because he enjoyed bringing wool from one town to the next. the only reason we traded was so we can afford to pay our troops so we can have amazing battles.
the only reason i ever bothered buying workshops is so i can afford paying my warband.
nobody played warband because he wanted to attend a feast at king harlaus' place.
so all those ideas on how this game should have been crusader kings, sims or minecraft. no
you are wrong and you bought the wrong game.
this game is about having your warband and fighting with it with the final goal being the last kingdom standing.
and we all know what happened to the creator of the Mona Lisa after he finished
Why not just vote with your wallet?
OP hated the game so much he only played it for 667 hours.
So if you feel that way, make notes and dont buy games like this in the future, cause you clearly expected something, that is not supposed to behere.
Could it be better? yes
likewise, certain mechanics of certain mod (Like: diplomacy mod) could be included in the game.
