Leveling Engineering?

Anyone have an efficient method for doing this, especially for your companions? I know you can speed it up for yourself by physically operating siege equipment, but I don't see how to get a companion to do that. Am I just assigning them the Engineer role and bombarding castles forever? Trying to build up a squad of mega-governors, lol.

ive used heaps of siege and never gained a point >.< i found even the guy i have asigned to engineer still takes forever to lvl

Engineering is one of the slower skills to level up. I've found building siege weapons during sieges gives a load of EXP upon completion of the siege weapon. I usually build trebuchets, but it could be better to rush building ballistas if you're only trying to level engineering and not actually sieging the location.
All participating members of a siege will gain passive engineering EXP (not much) during the siege. Only the person set to engineer (or your player character if no one is set) will gain EXP for using siege weapons/building them. It could be helpful to lead an army with your companion parties during the sieges.

I, too, want an elite squad of mega-governors. Yeah, just build a trebuchet, move it to your reserve, and repeat until you can place all four down at once. Your engineer will earn EXP decently fast. Helps if you have time to spare and a large enough army to keep enemies away.

This is gonna take a while. Done a couple hefty sieges with 4 trend and 4 fire catapults built and it only got my engineer from 80 to 86, that's why I was hoping there was a trick.

Well, just farmed a couple dozen bandit groups and got them to 50 riding and polearm for the +1 to prosperity and militia growth. Now comes the really fun part. Time to siege Pen Cannoc for 3 years!
