I dont get it though. If you want to play as a criminal be a criminal.

I haven't used it, but the one that comes to mind is Fourberie (spelling might be off).

I will explain. The base game is shallow and utterly lacking in depth or mechanics. The OP likely feels being a bandit is boring or unfulfilling, as do many of us about basically every aspect of the game outside of the battles.

The OP was asking for help finding modifications made by the community to address this, since Taleworlds, years into development has failed utterly to do so. You're welcome.

And the best answer I have is also: Fourberie (spelling might be off).

For a guy named Sleepysteve you are pretty switched on and yes I've got several hours put into the game when it first came out it was great but after years now it's completely stale I have never played with mods before but I watched this Halcylion bandit play through (all 20 episodes) and it looked superb and unique could possibly make it more challenging and exciting

Then i suggest you immidiately remedy the stuation.

Its one of few indeed good mods to play with. Like dplomacy was in warband and even better. And it dont make your experience worse even if you wont engage in mods mechanics, very VERY thoughtful job by mod author.

I don't generally care for the bandit/evil playthroughs. They aren't really enjoyable for me.

The game wasn't sold as a bandit king simulator either though.

It was sold as being moddable, which is what happened here. It doesn't appeal to me, but I'm all for new ways to engage with the game.

Mod can enrich your other playthroughts aswell. Like ability to hide on a map can come very handy to plan attacks on enemy armies and to scurry away after defeat. New siege interactions and plots, etc...

Anywho, give it a try when mood strikes you even if you wont touch 90% of it, still gonna be good experience, even if you decide to ditch it after one evening.

That post was in response to Ruffio. I recommended Fourberie for you in my first response. :)

People should play the game how they want. Games should be enjoyed.
