Some people play older versions of Bannerlord because the mods they like isn't updated for newest version of the game.

You need to figure out what versions the mods you want to run works on. Then get that version of the game.

Are you currently playing a modded playthrough? If so, what version?

you missed the point.

Any version. Some mods were not updated since early access.

So it all comes down to - what mods do YOU want to play. And then trying to figure out what mods of them you can make work together.

Imagine mods... being a jiggsaw puzzle with missing pieces you have to find.

We really need to ask more of the modders. To ensure they test compatibility with all other mods right? -) God forbid the end user have to figure it out.. such a hassle.

with workshop in place, it is unsurprising, that unknowing customers have expectations, of all this work out of the bat. And the way workshop operates, its unsurprising, that it lags behind. It is hard to roll out hotfixes here, even if modder is aware of issues.

Its like... IMO modding is always responsibility of an end user. But i can see why new users have another expectations, and i cant blame them nor modders for it. Workshop needs to change, its long overdue.

Looking at the workshop, you can tell it to just display mods for the version of the game you want. That should ensure those mods will work on the version you want to use. Then adding other mods will be hit and miss you the user have to deal with.

I remember when people was begging for workshop to arrive, because it would be the savior of the game and modders would flock to the game like bees to honey. (whatever) Yet the reality of things seems to be they are more keen on update and release mods on Nexus. Just show that what the end users believe about mods and modders isn't always on pair with what actual modders do.

That is reality now, but at some point workshop was indeed one of best things valve ever done. Issue come with moderation, that were pushed by crybabies on both game developers (not mod developers) and steam. It still could be okqay, but in workshop you cant easily download previous versions of mod. So now we have two-fold problem. Modders cant qquickly release hotfixes (uit mostly comes down to game devs, how they set up rules, but sometimes steam moderation goes into it too) and they also cant maintain previous stable versions so people could operate game instances as they want to.

Workshop was incredible tool when it was released. But w/o updating, every tool can become obsolete. And workshop quickly marches towards it.

P.S.
Irony is, taht nexusmods also goes this route now. If we project workshop experience, they would encounter same issue in around 5 years, but i would say earlier, as annoyance is built up. And with increasingly woke moderation on part of nexusmods, soon there would be competing platforms for them, andw/o change inpolicy, i dont think nexus could compete. They make it increasingly harder for regular players to dl mods. Its not gonna end well.

just go to nexus and sort the mods by update date and you can use all of them that got updated in less than a year
