It would literally be equivalent to giving armor & weapons to a Companion and that being set as a template to copy onto units.
They could even set this as a Elite Guard and have each custom troop cost the cost of the gear you gave them.
or even better.....
Allow you to place the Armor/Weapon in a Castle Armoury and the Elite Guard unit will take their equipment from there.
Absolutely within reason
Thank you for reading and considering this!
I for one always thought the Custom Weapon Crafting Mechanic would go completly in hand with Custom Troop Trees!
The good part being, that considering how weapon prices are set (better weapon = exponentially more expensive), the player can't abuse with overkill weapons otherwise they couldn't make their troops (too expensive).
If people want more customization freedom, to the detriment of basic balance, mods can sort it out anyway!
And guys, there can both be Elite troops and the Peasant troops... it's litteraly the vannila Regular and Noble troop trees!
I thought about the custom troop idea:
There could be a system dependant on Clan tier; as in, the higher the Clan Tier, the more troop tiers you can make.
This is what I mean:
Clan Tier: 0 --> tiers 1 and 2; 3 customizable troop types. (1 T1, 2 T2)
Clan Tier: 1 --> tiers 1, 2 and 3; 5 customizable troop types (1 T1, 2 T2, 2 T3)
Clan Tier: 2 --> tiers 1, 2, 3 and 4; 9 customizable troop types (1 T1, 2 T2, 4 T3, 2 T4)
Clan Tier: 3 --> tiers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5; 12 customizable troop types (1 T1, 2 T2, 4 T3, 4 T4, 2 T5)
Clan Tier: 4 --> tiers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 + 3 first Noble troop tree tiers (1 T1, 2 T2, 4 T3, 4 T4, 4 T5 + T2, T3 and T4 for Noble Troop Tree/Houseguard)
Clan Tier: 5 --> tiers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 + 5 Noble troop tree tiers (1 T1, 2 T2, 4 T3, 4 T4, 4 T5 + T2, T3, T4, T5 and T6 for Noble Troop Tree/Houseguard)
Clan Tier: 6 --> tiers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 + 5 Noble troop tree tiers (1 T1, 2 T2, 4 T3, 4 T4, 4 T5 + T2, T3, T4, T5 ,T6 and T7 for Noble Troop Tree/Houseguard)
The custom troops could be 100% more expensive comparable to other similar tier troops, until you make your own kingdom, after what there could be policies to standardize their equipment and training, reducing their wages, but at the cost of increasing that of other faction troops.
Also, there should ba a hard cap on how good they can be at stuff for their tier, along with a limit of skills they can specialize into, hell, you could get the choice: either they good/okay at multiple things (125 athletics, 125 one handed, 125 polearm) or very good at fewer things (100 athletics, 150 one handed, 100 polearm).
I feel like this could give a GREAT sense of progression, and make clan tiers more important than just: hey, you get to have 20 more men in your party. yay.
I would love the ability to have custom troops!
