How do i keep my units from using the ladders during a siege?
In general I have found the siege mechanics to be frustrating and difficult. You issue commands to your troops and they ignore them and get themselves killed. The ladders are a blatantly counter effective strategy and serve no purpose other than feeding your troops. Is there a way to keep your troops off of them because I haven't been able to figure one out other than keeping them position far enough away that the don't run at them.

What version you playing? I thought I saw in patch notes this fix?

I believe it stated they were rushing the ladders on walls bc they are attempting to stand at the gate awaiting for it to be broken down. Problem was, the spot they wanted to wait at was on the INSIDE of the door lol.

IDK, have not done a siege since the fix :(

Well specifically the problem i'm having is that i'm trying to line my archers up back along the front wall of the castle and the keep trying to prop up the ladders and then run back into formation which is obviously extremely stupid.

Oh so the ladders are being pushed then, which resets your dudes. Is this the issue you are having? If so, a fix for me was to stand back with my bow, and peg the ladder pushers. Eventually the troops will be pushed back by your guys climbing the ladder.

if you build 2 siege towers that should replace the ladder, not a good fix, but maybe it helps

I found, that when you siege, your melee units get split into three groups, one for each ladder-side/siege tower and one for the ram. so if you manually control the ladder groups to stay behind they wont siege the ladders. you're welcome.

properly break walls and troops will flow into wall holes without any needing to climb anywhere.

how do you do this?

I can get a most one catapult or treb built before its destroyed. --Not enough to take down a wall.

You can click the seige equipment again once its built and send it to reserve. Unreserve them all when theyre all done.

Can you give more details. There did you place your troops? Which formation? Used ladders or towers?
I can put my infantry to the back off the map in line formation, but they will still run to the walls for the ladders.

I just did my first siege. Took Varcheg from Sturgians as Vlandian. I built two Trebuchets (not sure how effective they were, seemed pretty useless), two Towers and a Battering Ram.

The Towers and Ram worked great, no AI issues. They also didnt bother with any ladders. Took the town with 1300 vs 700 garrison+militia. No huge losses. Had to call in 12 parties to the army, cohesion was just about to run out when I finished building all the stuff.
