Are there any special tips or techniques people use to do it more often?
If the hit comes from your right, attack right
left > left
up > overhead
center > stab
Your weapon has to connect with theirs when they strike while you chamber yours, not attacking both at the same time.
The hardest part is that weapons have to touch each others.
During battles though it's practically useless.
So yeah get the hang for it on the left.
Its called riposte!
