Training troops to max level is a chore.
So I'm trying to train a mixed group of Aserai and Vladian infantry to get a decent shieldwall and be able to assault some bandit hideouts.

And so far, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's boring and fairly ineffective. I've GOT some high tier infantry but they either die after some time or the lesser infantry dies.

Yes, I know that's still controlled risk and sometimes some die. That's normal. But I've been grinding bandits a lot and it feels like very little progress.

I pick up every one of my fights for minimum amount of threat to my troops yet looters (my main target) still kill some of my experienced infantry.

Every time I fight mountain bandits with 1 cav the highwaymen still manage to kill one or two of my infantry even if I beeline for them trying to kill them. And they don't really prioritize me like most AI troops do when you approach them.

It's super slow and I still lose some well-trained infantry, mostly when I don't fight looters, but hey, mountain bandits give some good loot.

And that Leadership perk that gives xp to troops... well, I'd take it, except LEADERSHIP DOES NOT GO UP. It's stuck at 16 when i've been fighting with a small army (15 to 20 roughly, 25 max) for a month or two now. And yes, i've got 2 focus points in the skill.

And as far as trying to get higher level troops, the overwhelming majority of Vlandia's villages just give me recruits. Even at the higher reputation tiers, only the high rep tiers give me something else.

I'm also rich, but the only thing I see as mercenaries in taverns is Armed Traders... would love to spend money to unlock the higher tier troops, or to pay for Vlandian mercenaries in Vlandian taverns.

Also autoresolve is actually harming me in trying to train troops, I lose some elite infantry to an inferior looter force where I should easily win with no losses (maybe a knocked out dude) in real fights... seriously.

I understand that the bug that made autoresolve level up troops like crazy had to go, the XP gain was too fast. But now, training troops is SLOOOW. I've been at it for several hours non stop and I still have only a few elite troops.

At least I got almost 15k out of it...sheesh.

I think i'm going to get some mods like killing bandits increase reputation in villages...

ONe of the reasons is leadership perk that lets u train doesnt properly work and castles/keeps give u patchetic amount of xp per day.

1) High tactics and medicine help prevent losing in autoresolve against weak opponents.
2) The upgrades are too much of a grind, I agree they should either increase XP from battles or provide a passive XP supplement to help with the leveling. They need to do so while also fixing AI lord recruitment, otherwise fighting 60% recruit armies with your T5 troops would be pretty silly.
3) Until the issue is solved, the best solution I found it recruiting prisoners and defeating lords who recently defeated someone else and taking their prisoners into your party.

Yeah I do not think they are working as intended.

This is my highest hope, however it seems the devs are catering to those who save scum and keep their maxed out armies with their patches.

I never reload and it´s one heck of a pain staking process, I am making decent money but it takes forever to gather a new army.

This is also partially why we see the snowball effects, once a nation is down it´s knees it simply can´t recruit and massive armies just steamroll everything getting even stronger.

Just mod it

Atm leveling troops is indeed a chore and frankly until they make it better themselves, and give additional ways apart from slaughtering hundreds of hours of gameplay for a dozen soldiers that will just die in next battle, modding sounds like best solution. Plus then you can actually set it up yourself
