How do i spread my archers effectively?
I have around 100 archers, and when i do F3 F3 (Loose formation) They end up in 4 ranks.

How do i decide how many ranks should they have? I would want 2 ranks wide loose formation.

wondering this as well, also how to get infantry to surround archer blob in a circle formation havent yet figured out how to do that, the AI seargent control does it themselves though.

When you press F1 you can click and hold your mouse and drag to decide how many ranks deep you want your formation to be in

It's pretty awesome the first time. Way more dynamic troop formations are possible. Makes things like setting an infantry shield wall with pikemen behind them and archers in loose behind them possible.

Same, never ever would have though of that, though it's obvious in retrospect.

Another thing I sometimes do, develop 2 different archer branches and set them as two different numbers to have a left and right flanking archer set that can loop around from behind.

It's yet another "undocumented" feature, more or less. I didn't know that could be done until I saw a vid specifically about unit commands and the like.

This sort of thing needs constant /community-bumps until it becomes common knowledge.

It's useless drag-and-drop on a forest maps. It's stuck in a tree.
It's annoying to fight on forest.
I wonder if developers have ever played a game.
I bet they haven't done it.
