If you mean in terms of unit lists...the game is still being balanced, and there are a variety of claims being made about which is best, which is worst...along with various (flawed from what i have seen so far) ways of testing that. I personally like to take a multicultural approach to army composition, taking better units from each culture. ;)
Empire is good all-around, making them a great choice too.
Battania has incredible elite archers, as most know.
Sturgia
Vladia has the best crossbowmen, and decent foot units/melee cavalry.
None of them work yet btw. They're all non-functional placeholders.
Edit: I think people are completely missing the question with their answers lol.
Yes, they are the best horse archers in the game (sorry Imp Simps) and are incredible lancers to boot.
Sturgia: Best melee infantry, great shock infantry, javelins.
Khuzait: Mobile archer cav, easiest to get mounted units with this faction.
Empire: Jack of all trades, they have everything but they don't excel at anything.
Battania: Lightly armored but heavy hitting infantry/cheap shocktroops, best bowmen.
Aserai: sucks
I mean aserai bonus is bad, their troops is not bad.
Vlandians are likely second best. Especially compared to their neighbors. Crossbows were nerfed, but are still quite powerful.
Third I'd say is..Khurgits? I forget how to type their name everytime... Mounted archer line is pretty strong. Crappy soldiers on the ground though.
Then it's just a crapshoot after that. Sturgians have good unit makeup in theory, but usually lack actual armor.
Battanians are light, and focus too much on 2H weapons.
Aserai are OK, but they are a bit too much like the Empire, just not as good armor or cavalry.
So if I had to pick between the two I'd go with Vlandians.
