Infinite money from ransoming prisoners
Just came back to the game after playing it when it first came out. It used to be if you ransomed prisoners at brokers they'd be set free.

Now at some point they made ransoming prisoners in towns dump them in the dungeon? Well if it's not your town it'll only dump nobles into the dungeon and regular troops will go to the void.

But if you own that town you can just take them back out of the dungeon into your party and resell them for infinite gold loop. You can also sell them and then just pull them out one by one to convert to your party. This double dipping shouldn't be allowed.

I don't see anyone really talking about this. Seen a lot of posts about duping donating prisoners for relations and influence but not this.

Seems like this is an easy fix that should have been done with the last patch. If they're gonna have ransomed prisoners dumped into dungeons just disable you from controlling your dungeon, make separate prisons, or delete the ones you sell in your own towns.

Just tested it, loaded game, caught some mountain bandits, brought them back to the city I own, ransomed them, checked my dungeons wich had been empty.

You don't happen to run some mods by chance?

No mods just vanilla. I was playing on 1.2.8 but updated to 1.2.9. Been ransoming lords into dungeons since day 1.

So is that not normal behavior to be able to ransom them and they stay locked up? That would suck if so.

I'm 250 days into my campaign and doing that nonstop though guess that would explain why I seem to be so brokenly rich and wars have been jokes.

So took a video of it and I guess I didn't test it far enough before posting.

The troop prisoners can only be ransomed twice and on the second time they get deleted but the lords I can ransom infinitely.

I've seen this mentioned ever since the new patch. You can report it to TW, but I think they're aware of it. Not sure when it's going to be fixed, so have fun with it while you can.

Everything seems like an easy fix. Whatever they did in the last patch allowed this to appear, and since I have no idea what goes into coding, I wouldn't know how easy or difficult it really is.

I think TW should not change the mechanism because the way they have it now fixes a problem more severe than being able to get a handful of coins from ransoming a lord or lady.

Right now if you're doing main quest and get in a fight with a lord or lady you need to ask about the folly thingamajig, you can't ask them about it before the fight. And when you capture them you can't ask them about it while they're in jail.

However, you CAN ransom them and ask them about it when they're free.

This said, if you're far enough into the game to be capturing lords and ladies, I can't imagine money is an issue for you at that stage since you get so much more from either selling all their army's junk or by simply capturing their town and having it generate a steady income for you.

There are so many ways to make money in Bannerlord, and a boring technique where you ransom and re-ransom a noble for just 9k coins isn't worthwhile.

Heck, I don't usually even sell the gear after defeating armies. I prefer to have it go to XP for my troops, and if I have no troops who can level up anymore, I still throw away the junk.

But TW shouldn't "fix" the ransom loop unless they come up with a way for people to ask prisoners about the folly thingie.

So does it just happen when a lord/lady is a part of it? Because as I said, I tested it with a bunch of captured thieves and they were not in the dungeon after ransoming them.

If so, small wonder I didnt get any of that, I usually don't take nobles as prisoners instead let them go to get charm-XP and build up relation to basically the noble-houses, you never know wich ones you end up wanting to recruit later on.

How do you do this? If you take them from prison and ransom them and then go back they are still in prison?

Seems like an obvious bug. Just don't use it. I haven't and have not seen you can do this.

After researching more it seems to be a bug that's been around forever since launch and got fixed but keeps popping back up. In fact when I first played bannerlord on release in early access I stopped playing because of all the bugs.

This exact one funnily enough was the last one that made me shelve this game. I kept having deja vu like this feels so familiar until last night it clicked that I dealt with this 4 years ago. It sucks to come back now after release only to find out it's still around. Once introduced it works all the time on both troops and lords but infinitely on lords.

Not sure how it happens exactly but best guess is it has to do with using the undo button in menus. Seen older bugs with infinite donating to prisons causing similar problems that started with using the undo button. They would donate troops to the dungeon but then undo changing their mind on how they wanted to donate and from then on it'd cause duping issues. So I guess best option is to stay away from using the undo button.

I would love to not use it but it inevitably causes problems like dumping regular troops with ransom just puts them in dungeons when I'm trying to delete them and make money instead. To me the biggest problem isn't the infinite money aspect but the fundamental systems it breaks down.

It also sucks since when I was a merc I normally just ransom lords to make more money since I don't care who's winning the war but the lords just stay captured making my ally steamroll whilst not making more money off the freed lords.

Hi. I just noticed this bug and wanted to report it here, but there is already a thread :-D

I sold my lord/ladies and went on with my game, when suddenly I saw the lady I ransomed has "escaped" :-D

I do not want to abuse this bug, but I think this should be fixed.
yup, this money bug still happen during my play, it make me rich & my pocket money is more than 2M in just several days

"Hey Bill got some prisoners to ransom off here you go!"
"Thanks Ted! Good job running the town btw!"

10 minutes later
"Hey Bill, got some more prisoners to ransom off here you go!"
"Thanks T... they look familiar have I see them?"
"It's all in your head, payment please."
Its been reported to TW several times already. I think they know about it. Probably wont see it fixed until the next update.
