The Long Glaive head is T5, so you have to smelt a lot of 2h polearms to get it, but it is well worth your effort.
For 2H swords, I am partial to the T4 Long Falx. It eats shields.
I will also have my people forge 2H Star Falchions to use up all the extra wrought iron, iron and steel that accumulates.
I can give you 1-3 good weapon making suggestions, but I think that there will be no such thing as a unanimously chosen or appointed best weapon for assembly line forging,
since there are far too many different combinations, exp. yield and different material consumption...,
plus the different opinions, experiences and calculation examples of the players...,^^
But that's more like painting by numbers for you...,^^
Because you should actually spend hours dealing with the topic yourself if you want to learn crafting properly and understand and master the most important thing about this work, the so-called "fine-tuning".
Because the 3 different sliding controls not only affect size and strength, but 1-3 mini adjustments make the difference between Normal, or +Range, or +Dmg., or +Quiver Size, and Masterful Weapons...
Broken ones cannot be caused by fine-tuning, only the blacksmiths themselves can do that if they don't yet have the required blacksmithing skills, which can always be seen from the color and the number of points required to get a normal result... ,
After hours of trying and several pages full of notes with exact exp and gold prices, the various weapons and parts and results, I can tell you a few blindly,^^
Try out these 3 slightly modified polearms...
1.) Voulge throw + polearm,
Material costs 4x steel + 2x wood,
Head = Voulge steel, 2x steel,
Pole = the 1.6 meter long pole with throwing option,
2x wood,
Additional hoes for anti horse = last made of steel,
1x steel,
End piece = last made of steel,
1x steel,
normal weapon,
Gold price = 28k, improved weapon,
Gold price = 35k,
Masterful weapon,
Gold price = 43k,
2.) Voulge throw + polearm,
Material costs = 2x steel + 2x fine steel + 2x wood,
Head = Voulge, fine steel,
costs = 2x fine steel,
Pole = the 1.6 meter long pole with throwing option,
2x wood,
Additional hoes for anti horse = last made of steel,
1x steel,
End piece = last made of steel,
1x steel,
normal weapon,
Gold price = 36k, improved weapon,
Gold price = 45k,
Masterful weapon,
Gold price = 54k,
3.) Voulge throw + polearm,
Material costs = 4x fine steel + 2x wood,
Head = Voulge, fine steel,
costs = 2x fine steel,
Pole = the 1.6 meter long pole with throwing option,
2x wood,
Additional hoes for anti horse = last made of fine steel,
1x fine steel,
End piece = last made of fine steel,
1x fine steel,
normal weapon,
Gold price = 49k, improved weapon,
Gold price = 55k,
Masterful weapon,
Gold price = 62k,
Gold prices were updated by me just the day before yesterday,
The sales bonus skill can still lead to different results,
and therefore there is no guarantee or promise of profit...,^^
edit;
concentrate on the steel and fine steel polearms for sale or dismantling for exp.,
Since there is very little to be gained from Damascus steel by dismantling it and almost always has to be made yourself..., you only use it to make weapons for yourself rather than dismantle them again or sell them...
In addition, the cities only ever have a capital of approx. 60k - 120k gold, + what you buy there...
but for a truly perfect masterful 2H Damaz. You can get a sword for 100k - 220k, and no city has that much unless you buy it half empty,^^
Better with cheap steel or F.S. Work
1 crude iron
6 wrought iron
Sells for 6k (average) and 10k after the 50% extra price skill
Low-ish smith stamina needs and skills and BEST balance of used resources vs the sell price (imho)
buy 2 cheap daggers and a smith hammer for some 500
smelt them
Then make and sell said 2h sword for 10k .
And on and on and on ...
Millions !
IV Pointed Falchion Blade
IV Rounded Flat Guard
IV Tapered Horn Grip
IV Holed Pommel
Uses 5 Wrought Iron, 1 Iron
Produces tier 6 swords
Each one sells for 8k-13k
high dmg javelins and (i prefer) throwing axes are good for fast early smithing skill xp.
but as soon as possible you should use 2h swing polearm. (smelting pilum helps)
2h swing polearm (with pierce + throwing dmg) are the king.
if mats are unlimited and you have more time to get the smithing parts,
you can try 2h sword for max xp.
