I am sick and tired of people "creating" things that are "based on" something someone else created.
It's a terrible thing to do. It's like "fan fiction" which is usually made out of crap by writers who are crap. Most often, it's just an excuse to demonstrate repressed sexual tension. Most of the movies coming out these days that are based on someone else's IP are... crap. And, for the same reasons, but including "LET'S GET RICH BY DUPING INNOCENT FANS" as a major motivation.
"We" as consumers have to demand "new things."
I'm not kidding in the least little bit.
What if TW created a "new thing" that was based on "their own work" and included "new ideas and story concepts" that were rigorously thunked up by "imaginative and technically proficient artists?"
That's much better than "GIVE MOAR SAME" isn't it?
I'd rather sift through five pounds of crap to find a completely original gem than be inundated with thousands of piles of crappy rip-offs. We have enough darn Warhammer garbage, FFS! :)
@OP - Your desire for expanding your "Witcher" experience is fine. I have no issue at all with that. Good luck! Go read the books! Play the game. Or... What if you, yourself, decided to create something that scratched whatever itch The Witcher scratches for you, but was something uniquely your own? Think of how many readers/viewers/players would love to experience that thing that you created, yourself. :)
The engine is not likely the best sort to make the kind of game you want.
However... It's Warband. Once this gets released, there will be so very many crazy mods that I wouldn't be surprised if someone made a mod that allowed you to fly dragons in a mop-bucket while playing a piano...
There will be a Construction Set released, too. You could try to make your own "Witcher ARPG" mod.
