Remember to back up the game OST before you replace them.
You need to convert your mp3 file into .ogg file (I used the website Zamzar).
Now, to find the music file for when you're travelling on the world map.
The files are in Bannerlord/music/PC. But figuring out which file is which is tedious. I tried "world_adventure_07_MKS_ancient_fields.ogg", the music when on world map stays the same. I succeed with "Maintheme.ogg" so I presume I should just keep looking.
But yeah, this is the method"

Also, here is a link from the devs forum where this was discussed;

Personally I would just press play on youtube on another computer or on a phone before I mucked about with the game files.

This is one of the issues with the Modding toolkit, too, as it wan't yet finished for adding music tracks/etc. I don't know if it is now more full-featured in that regard (probably not) but I do remember a patch that made the claim that TW had improved that feature. (It was basically absent on first release along with custom rigging options)

IOW - Changing the files directly would not be recommended, but if the modding kit now allows for mods to have custom sound/music, that's the way to go - Create a mod with the modding toolkit that supersedes the game's default music track with a track of your choice.

Thanks for this, it seems we're not quite ready for a quick and dirty mod yet

Don't let your browser and YT rob you of memory you need for the game.
Download a light version of a music app and play your music in the background.
