Game crashes and freezes
Hello all,

I am experiencing a consistent issue with the game (Version 1.2.8.31530) on my Windows 10 PC, where the game causes my entire system to freeze, necessitating a complete power down. This problem occurs at random intervals - sometimes minutes into the game, other times after an hour or more. It frequently happens during game saves. When the freeze occurs, the screen turns black, and the PC becomes entirely unresponsive, not even reacting to the power or reset buttons.

System Specs:

Motherboard: MS-7A38
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor (24 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
RAM: 64GB
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 with 12GB dedicated memory

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:

Removed all mods
Reinstalled the game
Checked the integrity of game files

Despite these efforts, the issue persists. I am not using any mods currently. The randomness of the freezing and the severity (requiring a complete power down) is quite unusual. I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced similar issues or might have insights into potential solutions.

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Did you do everything the way it says to here? -- Technical Support Subforum -- How to Remove Modifications -- https://steamcommunity.com/app/261550/discussions/17/2968397584539744282/

If not, you've probably got bits and pieces of old mod code borking your game. Mod lint,

Yes, I have tried every single step in this post.
I also tried everything in here:

The problem still happens. As I mentioned, more often than not when saving, the game causes the entire PC to freeze: monitors do not receive signal from GPU, keyboard and mouse turn off, although the computer is still running the reset or power button stop working completely, forcing me to resort to unplugging the PC from power in order to restart it.

The issue doesn't happen with any other app or game, many are much more resource intense than Bannerlord.

Possibly dumb idea given other titles work ok, apologies if so, but when was the last time you cleaned the fan filters/cleaned out the innards of your PC? I was getting the game hang on me until I did that last night. Ah, the dust that flew.

At this point there are no dumb ideas to be honest. Trust me, I tried all kinds of dumb stuff :D .
But not the issue either. I opened the case last week to install a new cooling system and took the chance to do some needed cleaning too. The issue was happened before and is still going on now

Acontece o mesmo problema comigo, fiz tudo o possível. Computador novo, roda qualquer coisa possível e trava somente nesse jogo

I too have been having unexplained crashes since the update. I get a few min into the game and it crashes. I try to send a bug report but even it gets bugged and doesn't go through. i never play with mods and have the video settings all the way down. I have reinstalled the game multiple times now, ran as admin, updated drivers, verified the files, now im down to asking other people on steam since the devs have yet to get to it.

I just uninstalled the game as I would rather it does not damage my components. I'll come back to it when the devs actually did something about this issue

Your got a healthy PSU on that computer?

It is a recently built computer (new PSU). The PSU can also provide around 200w more than the system needs.

However, much more important and that I mentioned before: This issue only happens while playing Bannerlords while it handles with no issues other much more demanding games such as Far Cry 6, Cyberpunk 2077 and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

So, no, not likely to be an hardware issue

this is happening to me too! I thought it was a mod issue as well, but even after deleting EVERYTHING involved with the game, it still crashes.

Chiming in, same problem here. No randomness in the severity however, just completely black, and have to shut off at the PSU. Had the same problem in Starfield.
Have never used mods, recently reinstalled (though admittedly don't remember if this was a cause of uninstalling it the first go-round).

Hello everyone. So I have a new brand pc with brand new components which more than meet the maximum requirements for this game and this also happens to me. Curiously, when I was playing on my laptop before while they were still launching updates with new content this never hapenned. Now, on one day or another I have theses crashes. Till now I had 2. One was a siege, I don't recall how many forces but I was defending a castle. Today, I was fighting against a 1100 Western Empire army and won with no problems and after I engaged in a battle of both armies near 700 soldiers for each side and in a most random frame it entirely frozze. I'm currently checking the integrity of the files to see if this solves my problem.

I still can't play on my new rig, even after replacing the PSU (thought maybe that was the issue since it would randomly shut down my PC) but still crashes.

This game is terrible on PSU. It blew out mine. And runs so hot (not sure what is churning,, or why, but my fan is always on with this game and this game only)... It caused my PSU to burn out. (it was like 600w I think.. and my rig was 580 or something... i forget).

Anyway:

1- Yes, this game eats PSU. There are threads from others with same PSU issue
2- If you are going into a fief (town/castle) and it crashes. Try going into a DIFFERENT ONE.

In the past I've had this issue. Walk into Onira, game crashes. Walk into Omor.. no problem.

Test more. it was ONLY ONIRA. Check game files. 2 corrupt. it fixed them, I could now walk into Onira.

3- Sometimes, if u don't update the game correctly. (each patch.. over and over.. 0.7 to 0.72, to 0.8 to 0.81 to 0.85 to 0.9 to 1.0 etc etc) The game loses some assets.

Perhaps it had TRASH item (real name) in it, but it is now gone.. If you still have in inventory it crashes game.
There were lots of other things added/removed. I forget them all. Some never made it to base game, yet they'd pop up in inventory due to a bug. If you did not go step by step... u MIGHT have missed the patch that removed "TRASH" item etc... Now you are 18 patches later.. and it crashes since that OLD SAVE is missing many fixes.

PS- I don't know if TRASH is in game anymore or not. Don't care. its an example.

edit: the morale of the TRASH ITEM story.. was to say "always update patch to patch to patch" if u can. Skipping from 0.5 to 1.3 can (and I'd bet a million dollars WILL) cause issues.
