Can someone make a mod replacing the Bannerlord music and sound effects with Warband's?

Is that even legal? I'm pretty sure the music from one game cannot be transferred to another game for use by people who didn't buy both.

p.s. Just watched that link in the original post. Gosh the choreography of the fight is so bad. They telegraph all their shots ridiculously badly.

In the US, provided one owns both games, it would not be illegal for personal use.

Tech note: I know that it was not easily possible to manipulate music using the construction kit while back ago... I don't know if that has been changed/improved or how it may be done in other Bannerlord mods that manage it. It was a complaint for a pretty long time and I stopped checking up on it.

A mod could be made that redirected music to a suitable music file and the end-user could be directed to copy/paste the indicated music files from the supported game if it is also installed on the user's system.

*ie: It would be illegal to redistribute that music inside a mod without permission by the copyright holder. Of note: For Civilization IV, Kael, the modder, obtained legitimate licensing from many notable artists to redistribute their music in his mod "Fall From Heaven 2." It's a huge selection of great music wonderfully fitting that mod's themes.

That is strictly in the "US" only, though, unless other nations also have similar laws regarding copyright and personal use of digital copy/media.

"8/10" :)

Though, your comments are noted and the expert is just mainly referring to the combat in general and how it showcases spear use, IMO.

It's also worth noting... it's kind of difficult not to telegraph intent when using a spear. The trick is whether or not the opponent can do anything about it, i guess.

(quote abridged for brevity, haha.

*Nods* I agree with you that if you own both games it is legal, but I note that Nexus Mods (based out of Britain) doesn't allow mods that take one game to put into another because of legality reasons. So I was just pointing out the barrier to making and releasing the mod in question.

As for that YouTube series, I love that series and often watch it. And I did indeed watch that spear expert film before and enjoyed it very much. I find it a delight to see experts from different weapons review films.

This said, regardless of what that expert said about the film *smiles* I have several explicit complaints about its choreography which I do not accept the spear experts overall review:

1. It has lots of attacks where the spears make wide arcing movements AWAY from the enemy before closing, and they're done for hollywood reasons and not combat reasons. Erol Flynn in the old films used to do that all the time. Erol Flynn knew fencing and swordsmanship, but for films he made the attacks flashy so that people could see them. The Troy film does what Erol Flynn did which still makes it theatrical and not real.

2. They could have killed each other countless times, but they didn't. For instance, in the scene where Brad Pitt punches the guy in the chest, the guy could EASILY have stabbed Brad Pit with his spear but didn't. There's absolutely no reason the guy should have allowed brad pitt to punch him in the chest, but he did because it was a film *Laughs*

The problem with the Troy choreography is that the characters in it are not actually trying to hit each other. It's a lot like the Star Wars (the first one from 1977) battle between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The whole fight there're not actually trying to hit each other.

In the context of Bannerlord style films, one of the reasons I loved the film "Highlander" is it's the first film I ever saw where the characters were actually looking like they were trying to hit each other. In the film Highlander there are only 3 attacks where they would have missed if not blocked which isn't bad for a film about sword fighting. (Please note Highlander 2 and especially Highlander 3 are not as good with regard to sword fighting.)

But thanks also for the link because it shows you have good taste in YouTube films :)
