Stop doing things they don't like. I'm not sure, but perhaps leaving them in another city (or giving them a party to lead) might prevent you from losing favor.

Or hire companions that would approve of raiding.

How do you fire companions you don't like?

You can talk to them through the party window. Tell them you no longer need their services.

If they leave, they're gone from the game - effectively dead. This will also cause the game to spawn in another random companion.

Let them lead a party. Then you start follow them around. Once they engaged in a fight you help out.. You gain standing with them, but this is painful slow...

I choose party leaders that don't have any 'red' trait. When I bring them into my army and go conquering, I don't raid and always show mercy to captured settlements, the latter gives me relationship points with those 'good' party leaders. Not sure which traits specifically affect it though.

I do think the companion relationship methodology is crazy and has been in every M&B game... you travel with these people for years and fight through thick and thin side by side and save each others hides in each battle. You are going to bond with them, like soldiers, closer than blood or marriage. It's stupid that my first companion, who for the first months was the only one in my party, has a relationship of 1 after ten years and hundreds of battles together. Should be +1 for ever 10 battles, and +1 for each year you spend together.

Send him out of your party when you are raiding, keep him in party when you are doing good deeds like helping villages

Thanks for the input, but the conversation text on the party window doesn't always give you the option to fire them.

If the conversation doesnt show the option, you may then try "if you are in the ctiy" going out walk little bit in the world map, then go and talk to him/her again or if you are out, enter a city and leave ant then talk again, and that should do

Top option, then say time takes its toll if you're trying to ditch em

More like that he doesn't approve your deciscions. Once you have succesfully got your hands on a castle or town there is at the end of the siege a deciscion to be made what you should do with it. Devastate, pillage or show mercy. Before making that deciscion read if your companion is named at one of those deciscions. Some are goody two shoes and will approve mercy and for some it can't be bloody enough, so they approve devastate.
Pillage is the middle road.

Treat them mean.

Every time I see a sad wanderer sitting in the Pub, I hire them! Then immediately fire them.

Keeps them young and attractive, even for a potato face.
