I have done exactly the entire reinstallation process. And I also swear I saw that Noble Long Bow never had the "cannot use on mount" icon even before I started installing mods. I wasn't certain but I played unmodded far longer than I did modded (100 hours before I tried to mod).
I should clarify, I'm playing on Sandbox mode right now, if that makes any difference.
Did you do all the manual deletions described in that Tech Support document, or did you just short cut it and uninstall and reinstall and call it good?
Did you delete your corrupted save files?
Did you check for hidden files?
If you did not do everything in this document -- How to remove modifications -- https://steamcommunity.com/app/261550/discussions/17/2968397584539744282/ -- then you have not completely cleaned up your mod mess.
So put your big boy pants on and take responsibility for what you did to your game and follow the instructions (all of the instructions) for cleaning up the borked pile of crap your game has become.
You can report it to TW, but if you've had mods installed, they will not bother with you.
I did all the manual deletion. I deleted my corrupted save file. I checked for hidden files. And lastly, I'm pretty sure I saw no icon even before I started modding. The reason is I had an archer build in mind from the beginning, and I was checking out the equipment list in the shops. The first time I noticed longbows (including Ranger Bows which don't have the word "long" in it) not being usable on horseback, it had an extra icon in it. So I checked for every bow that I could use on horseback, and at the time Noble Long Bow didn't have that icon.
I HAD NOT STARTED MODDING YET AT THE TIME.
So stop throwing insults.
Also, the game isn't borked. It's missing an icon for one specific item. I haven't noticed anything else out of ordinary. And also, my mod didn't touch equipment at all. I can't remember what it was exactly, but it was probably Improved Garrison or something recommended by someone in this community, or by some YouTuber. (Actually I know it's not Improved Garrison but I'm just trying to raise an example.)
What I said clearly did not throw any insult at anyone, I don't see why you have to tell me to put some big boy pants on like you're some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hotshot.
Perhaps it should be made clear by the community that modding actually does all kinds of ♥♥♥♥ to your game, and no one should be recommending any mod to anyone new to the community (in this case I belong to the latter). I know TW doesn't take responsibility for anything mod-related, but who would've thought a mod can actually break something that persists through reinstallation? Even after I followed every instruction to the letter.
I also tested this with a new save file. The shop didn't sell Noble Long Bow nor Noble Bow and I figured it's because my clan tier was 1 (or my bow skill was too low) so with my new character I leveled up bow skill etc until I found the item in the shop. The screenshot I produced was from all that effort.
Hell, my mod wasn't even a long list. It was just "ONE" mod. FFS.
But just so you know, don't insult me and call me irresponsible when all I'm trying to do is work out a problem. Toxic community even in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ single-player game. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ elitists are everywhere these days.
Edit 1: I'm gonna document every step I've done. So far, I've uninstalled the game, deleted the entire folders with the name "Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord" in steamapps, the hidden folder, and the save folder in My Documents. Now I'm reinstalling.
I can't do the "delete local content" option because there isn't such an option on Steam Library. However, I've used the search function on my PC to look for every document and folder that has the name "Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord" or anything similar. Only 3 documents show up, but they have nothing to do with M&B since they existed long before I even purchased this game.
I technically only deleted everything in these three locations yesterday, I didn't delete the folders themselves. This time I deleted the folders themselves. Literally not a single M&B folder exists in anything on my PC now other than the Recycle Bin. By everything, I mean everything since I'm searching each word in "Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord" (except for "2" since that is just over-the-top unnecessary).
Edit 2: download and reinstallation completed, gonna do a test run and check things out.
Edit 3: Yup it seems this time the problem is fixed. I'm guessing when I deleted the files, there were hidden files inside non-hidden folders, which I missed since I assumed the hidden files were only inside the hidden folders.
I'm not modding this game ever again, lesson learned.
Although I still maintain that using phrases like "put your big boy pants on" is unnecessary. So, to Clovis Sangrail as much as I thank you for helping me, you can still take my middle finger.
check out traditional japanese horse archery, for the most part they dont use shortbows. their bows are asymmetrical though, so it may help with the process
It is in the Birth and Death Options mod, which is a TW mod.
How I know is earlier when I did a fresh reinstall, I literally had no mod active, even "official" mods (if Birth and Death Options is considered an official mod since it has TW icon next to it). I made a new character, indeed Noble Long Bow has the icon that says it cannot be used on mount.
I restarted my game, but before I did I activated Birth and Death Options mod, and made another new character, purely to test and see if it was this mod that disabled the icon for Noble Long Bow. And lo and behold; it indeed was this official mod, since Noble Long Bow no longer has the icon.
This would explain why I thought I had not seen that icon even though I had not started modding. I didn't consider Birth and Death Options to be a mod.
I guess even Mr. Know-It-All Clovis Dickwipe doesn't know something after all.
Explain that.
Since you're the guy with the big boy pants on, why don't you explain instead?
Or are you going to tell me that after I deleted every single Mount and Blade folder that exists on my computer, including all hidden folders (and I even used the search function on my PC to search for these folders), this still doesn't fix a borked mod installation that doesn't even touch equipment? How would you then explain the solution you pointed me to? Which I carried out this same step twice in a row with very little variance between them.
Is your best answer this pathetic excuse -
- which is effectively a baseless assumption?
At the very least, if Ruffio says the latest beta version has this bug fixed, then I'm happy with that answer. Like I said, a missing icon doesn't break my game.
