1.6 smithing - unlock parts perk not applicable to polearms?
Is my luck just bad, or do these perks not apply to polearms? It seems like I get a new part nearly every time I deconstruct a sword with +200% learn rate. For polearms I only tend to get a new part 1/7 deconstructs. Anyone else notice this?

to unlock parts for polearm, you have to use tier 3+ weapons. if you fight empire factions you will get pilum (tier 4) from loot.

if you smelt 20+ pilum, you should get the hook-head and later the menavlion head for high dmg polearms. (and try always to use the throwing stick tier 3, if the weapon have thrust dmg)

I have no problems getting parts for polearms. It seems about the same as for 2H swords, especially once I get the Curious Smith perk.

I also have no mods.

Draw your own conclusions.

How about 1H vs. 2H?

It's better to draw conclusions with more than one frame of reference.

Wonderful advice, thank you!

I don't do 1H.

Not enough damage so not enough denars.

Sometimes weapon length will affect sales price more than dmg - I know because I've tested this.

I guess that's what you get for drawing your own conclusions.

You don't have to, but it goes faster... I think it's due to how some weapons use less materials. Daggers too is a pain to unlock. You can smith 100's of the damn things. Then smelt them all down and maybe unlock a couple parts. Same applies for polearms.
