Its not really a duck you moment. Everyone who got it 100% knew it would eventually go on a pretty deep sale. Especially when the games been "out" for nearly half a decade.
Actually, it was releaed (out of early access), October last year. Early access isn't the same as released. If it was, you would happily play the first early access version and never bothered with patch/update it ever since.
