Because TW didn't code it to let you forge armor.
weapons were build for crafting from the beginning, thats why every weapon except of non craftable categories like bows or crossbows is put together with the crafting parts in the files as well.
armors are not, that means in order for them to add armor crafting with parts they would have to seperate every armor they made so far into interchangeable parts first. (which would be a nightmare in terms of clipping issues anyways)
It's a skill issue.
How about you just create a mod to do it yourself then? -)
And I really dont want to waste my time on that. The game mechanics behind it belongs in an MMO or a mobile game. It shouldnt exist (in its current form at least) in the game to begin with.
It would make loot and the excitement over get something "good" in loot more or less pointless. Also if armor smithing would follow the same system as of weapon smithing, you would start out with craft low end stuff line tunics, padded stuff and crap before you could advance to something else. Not to forget the variations you end up craft with low skills is like broken, rusty, dented etc. Not like you would be able to craft mastercraft, legendary etc right out of the box. Suppose it would make resouces such as wool and leather more usefull.
But, yes, its the actual process of having to level smithing that I am not a fan off.
Truth be told, I would have been perfectly content if it had simply been implemented Warband VC style.
If there is mods for it already, I see no reason why TW should waste time and resources on something like this.
same thing how console players still don't have access to cheats. for about almost a year after release already lmao.
It's on Nexus, Leave it to the modders when TW is incompetent.
The lazy, incompetent buggers.
It should be easy, right?
Just change a few lines of code --
If $Enable_armor_forging = 'N'
Set $Enable_armor_forging = 'Y'
End-If
When I get a game for console I know very well the chance for mods for it is next to none. Console players get what they get.... if they want more... play on a pc.
The beta branch will be pushed to main in November according to latest community post, then console players will get their cheats, albeit not as extensive as the cheat console for pc.
Well TW never said we were going to get armor smiting and I don't think not having it in there qualifies as not doing their job.
I don't think one can be held to something they never said they'd do. Doesn't qualify as being unskilled. Objectively speaking
I wouldn't be against armor Smith though.
