You can always give them away and let the other lords compete for them.
How many do you have compared to other Lords?
Are you always being "Gifted" these feifs or do you get them as a result of a Vote?
I had this happen once, but it was "bursty." A couple of Fiefs were given to me and then everyone started voting for me to get others. I had to vote against myself to get fiefs to Lords that really needed them. But, after a bit, the "Gift Fiefs" stopped.
In another game, I joined Vlandia after they lost half their turf (mostly because of me :D ). I was given a couple of their towns deep in their territory, then the other fiefless lords got some. By the time Vlandia was expanding, I wasn't in the running again for a long time, because my territory was so far away.
I've also noticed the Ruler of a faction will sometimes just take a fief if they want it - usually a very high prosperity town. Always funny to see that, especially when I was trying to rig it so I could get it.
There's a YT video from a while back that discusses the formula used when determining who gets fiefs, and there is a 'player' bonus, so you're going to be in the running for more fiefs than others.
The more of the Kingdom Strength you have, the more you're going to have to be involved in every conflict, so I usually give some fiefs away, if just so the AI can actually contribute to war.
Gotcha.
As of the writing of this post, this was the Candicacy mechanic (Old post):
https://steamcommunity.com/app/261550/discussions/0/4910566145636720439/?tscn=1597597559
I don't know if it has changed significantly. You can look over it to see if you're maxing out, typically, all the conditions listed there or not.
The easiest thing to do to lower your Candidacy would be to have over 30k monies or more in inventory. Joining the sieges of other Lords, too, would help them get Candidacy (and helps the faction, in general). Then, vote for 'em. :) Balancing out garrisons so that yours are a bit lower in value is too much to manage, though. Just play smart, there, even if the AI Lords aren't...
There could be additional variables at play that are new, though. There could also be issues with any mods, past or present, or what direction the grass is growing... :) Just try out the above to see if it works.
