No quests coming up?
Hello

Just started a new game after a fresh install...

Playing as A Valandian for 4 hours.

Past Clan Tier:1 with 94 renown with 30k in cash.

Got 20 troops and a companion.

Not a single quest has been offered. The quests and completed quests are both completely empty.

Been a while since I last played it, but I thought the Rebuild the Clan quest should start automatically... Without this can any of the other main quests begin?

Is the game bugged or am I missing something?

Cheers!

did your character start within the vlandian territory as well?

if so you started a game in sandbox mode which means there is no main quest and no starting family members.

if you want those you need to start the game in campaign mode.

I thought the missions were optional and at your own pace?

So what is the difference between the sandbox and the campaign.

Looks like i just wasted 4 hours... sigh

Sandbox -- No quests

Campaign -- You get quests -- quest to start clan, quest to rescue siblings, and fubar main quest.

Do the first two, but ignore main quest (starts with Nertzes' Folly) and play it like sandbox.

In campaign mode many players only follow the main story until they unlock their family members and ignore the rest as there is little incentive to complete it and plenty of reasons to ignore it.

As Legatus stated, the only real difference between campaign and sandbox is that there is no main quest nor any starting family members (unless you add some via mods).

as Clovis Sangrail wrote the difference is that in sandbox there are no story quest, in campaign mode the story quests are there but are optional.
this also means that in sandbox there is no starting family members for the player and no dragon banner item.

other differences are that in sandbox your characters starting location on the map is determined by his selected culture while in campaing your character always starts at the same location regardles of the culture you chose ( for story reasons)

in sandbox you also can choose your characters age during character creation which is not possible in campaign mode.

other than that, if i have not forgotten something, both are the same.

Just speak to important people in the village, if they marked by a blue sighn, they have a quest.
The same story in lot of towns or from lords and ladies you meet or visit in castles or cities.
There are plenty of different quests and you dont have to do them, just solve them, if you want, if you see the possibility to solve them.
Good luck!

are there limitations to campaign mode tho?...iv heard that if u play campaign and complete the story main quest u cant create your own kingdom/become leader of a faction or there is less freedom in late game? is this correct?

Heard wrong. It's HARDER (impossible for many) to survive if you complete the main quest, but there is no downside to not doing the main quest. Getting the siblings makes campaign superior to sandbox, as it gives you a HUGE jump on establishing your clan with actual relatives (don't marry off your sister, unless you make her the Clan Leader first).

so my clan can go on far after my 1st created characters death? and pass on succession to siblings or my children?

yes, if you play with the birth and death system active that is.

though that is possible in both campaign and sandbox, in sandbox you just dont have a starting familiy so your dynasty only begins when you marry and have children.
