Different saves - different companions
I have a save game with a vlandian and another with a battanian.

Came across an awesome battanian fella with my vlandian lord and wanted my battanian warrior to have him join his party too, but i noticed he's nowhere in that save.

Is that normal? Anyway to get him?

Companions are randomly generated for each game, so no, that particular companion will not be in any other game. Given time, though, one extremely similar might spawn in your Battanian's game.

So they keep spawning new ones? Maybe after some died?
Any idea how long it takes for a new one to spawn?

If you just wish to have the same companion in a new game, and are not against using mods to achieve this i would advice the Character Manager mod:

https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/2382

What this mod allows you to save Heroes in your party to a file on the disk. This file contains everything about said companions (Skills, Looks, equipment and so on), and can be edited with a text editor. Afterwards the file can be imported back into the game and it will change the character based on the content of the text file.

So to get your old character you could:
  1. Export their character file from your old save game.
  2. Recruit a random companion in your new save game and export their character file.
  3. Modify your new random companions character file based on the file from your old save game (By changing their name, age, culture and body data with the ones from your old save game).
  4. Then import the modified random companion back into the game. They will then have the name, age, culture and visuals of your desired character.
If so desired you can modify pretty much everything else about the character as well, in case you wish to reset their skills and traits. I tend to use this mod to reset any character i recruit to a blank slate (Level 0, no XP, no attributes and focus) so that i can level them up the way i like them.

I don't know what the spacing is for natural spawns, but if you have a little change in your pocket, you can force respawns. Simply find the companions that you DON'T want, hire them, then dismiss them. When you dismiss a companion, they become "Lost" to the game, and are immediately (or close to it) replaced in the roster. Should cost you about 300-500 per companion sent to the biomass recycler.

Thats a good idea and worth the coin in my opinion. Are you sure the companions you ask to leave your company just vanish from the game though?

They do disappear but there is a bug right now where wanderers are dying left and right regardless of whether you have discovered or hired them.

Of course Taleworlds will need several months till they fix it. I'm playing on console and the heroes and companions often have red eyes - update - nothing changes

It's not a bug. That's a balancing method where if too many wanderers of the same skill type or faction have been spawned, it "kills" some of them to let others spawn in their place. It only looks like they're all dying off because you get the death messages, but no message saying that a new one has spawned.

I had the Red Eyes issue, but that came from a graphics setting. I set my "Texture Streaming Budget" to Very High - boom, eyes returned. Do you have graphics options on console?

Whatever you want to call it, they're being deleted. I've seen companion prototypes spawn and die immediately within a couple days. I've since read around and I guess it's a feature but it's broken.

Not to mention actual bugs like where companions disappear after being promoted to lords. And it hasn't happened to me yet but apparently it's possible for companions in your party to disappear as well.

I'm console too and I've read about this red eye bug but never experienced it myself.

Yes there was s a bug for companions promoted to lords will disappear…..very frustrating bcuz I am trying to start a kingdom with only clans that I made by promoting companions….then without realizing it 3 of the 5 lords I promoted disappeared only leaving two lords in those clans…..please taleworlds fix this bug sooner rather then later its ruining my play through and I am sure I am not the only one.
