***To perform a Clean Install, Uninstall the game. You can do that by right-clicking the game on Steam Library and selecting Delete Local Content. Delete all folders related to the game that remains after the uninstallation. The folders that might have files inside:
Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord
C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord
Note: You'll need to allow Windows to display hidden folders and files to see the ProgramData folder and its contents.
At this stage, everything related to the game on your computer is deleted. Now you can re-install the game.***
At that point, you would choose the beta 1.20 instead of the regular game.
If you're using a "gaming keyboard" that has its own drivers, try setting the keyboard to a Window's "default" configuration or assign it to the standard system driver, if possible. The same may need to be done with gaming mice/etc just to troubleshoot.
Check the Bannerlord Options menu for current keybinds and settings, just to be sure.
If it appears that the dialogue for the mission is having mouse-clicks "intercepted," meaning that you can't manipulate it or click on it because it is not the focus window, but may be able to interact with other game and system elements (meaning that your PC didn't just "crash" at that dialogue) then disable the Steam Overlay for the game. (Steam-> Library-> Right-click on Bannerlord-> Properties-> Untoggle "Enable Steam Overlay" in the first tab, IIRC. (It's enabled by default.) Restart and try again to test.)
Let Steam Verify your local files. (Steam-> Library-> Right-click on Bannerlord-> Properties-> Local Files-> Verify)
I can understand how a mission could freeze the game or cause problems if the mission itself is buggy. If it doesn't happen with any other types of missions, you may want to bug-report that specific mission. If it happens with all missions, but nowhere else, that's going to take some detective work...
If you're running a third-party anti-virus (Something other than MS Windows Security) make sure the game and Steam have adequate permissions. (AV can sometimes keep the game from executing certain things.) You may also need to check Windows security if you've installed the game on a different drive or outside of the standard programs directory.
Good luck. :)
PS: This kind of game freeze could happen when a mission is bugged, so it's not necessarily your fault.
